Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We walked from the pier along the coastal path which cost 100THB pp to enter as it goes through several private resorts (some no longer open) to Sai Nuan 2 and enjoyed gifs snorkelling and had lunch before continuing on to Chalok Baan Kao. The snorkelling was good particularly in front and to the right looking at the sea of the Banana Rock restaurant & bar. This beach can be accessed by road. If you are walking the snorkelling at the first beach you get to “Jansom Bay” was also good. The coastal path (starts at Charm Churee Villas) is defined although not really well sign posted.
From Sai Nuan 2 follow the road and then path to Chalok Baan Kao. Turn off the road onto the driveway to the right at Char Bungalows and follow the path (& random red arrows).

Access to the rocks for snorkeling is from a couple of small beaches that are largely covered in rocks and flotsam. The beach area is covered in rubbish of all sorts (I picked up a handful of glass in a minute or two), many of the buildings around the beaches are dilapidated and full of rubbish. There are a couple of small local beach cafes serving the usual mixture of local and western food. Really it was disappointing. Some reviews mention it is quiet and a throwback to Thailand of the 1980s. Yes, it’s quiet, but because it’s a dump, not some sort of hidden gem. There are much better options on Koh Tao such as Ao Leuk and Tanote Bay. Don’t waste your time coming here.

very nice and relaxed little cove. Would be 5 stars but they charge 100 baht to enter? never seen this before in asia. Ive seen places charge and you get a drink and sunbed, but here it seems its just to put money in someones pocket.

Beautiful clear clean water. Coral is all dead however lots of beautiful fish to see while snorkeling. A great, relaxing day at the beach. Bring your own food, restaurants cheap yet not very tasty.

There’s nothing here - no sunbeds, no facilities whatsoever. Sai Nuan is still one of the most beautiful beaches I know, but it bugs me that you have to pay to use it. The toilet was even closed the first time we came here (in Sept.). At Freedom Beach they’re charging an entrance fee as well, but at least they’ve got sunbeds, a restaurant/bar and toilets. My new favourite beach is now Aow Leuk bay. No charge and great facilities!

This beach was number one on our list for Koh Tao but we were really disappointed when we got there. The weather hadn’t been great so maybe it was that, but the sand was full of debris and certainly wasn’t soft. It certainly wasn’t how we envisaged a Thailand beach. On the plus side it was very quiet when we visited and there was no entry fee. We enjoyed banana rock bar for food and drinks.
