Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing experience snorkelling in the bay, we saw so many coloured fish, it was like swimming in a tropical fish tank. Love it.

A beautiful little bay we got to via boat. There is warm shallow water here that goes over reefs teeming with life. When we visited there were 7/8 reef tip shark pups that were gorgeous to see and lots of schools of fish swimming around. A great place to snorkel or dive!

Best is to book a long-tail boat (2800- 3000 bahts) to bring you here, and maybe visit Aow Leuk as well.

Light house Bay was one of my favorite spots to snorkel on Ko Tao. I have only been on one snorkel vacation. Light house Bay was amazing. I loved snorkeling around the boulders. There was tons of marine life tucked away down under and around the boulders. We saw lots of fish. We got to see a moray eel. There were sea anemone with pink fish like nemo. There were brilliant clam lips. The fish were quite large because the locals aren't allowed to fish at the snorkeling locations. The day we went the wind was blowing North East.
Snorkeling Locations (ratings out of 10):
2 of 10 - Ang Thong marine park (West of Samui)
4 of 10 - June Juea beach (Southern Ko Tao)
5 of 10 - Shark bay (South East Ko Tao)
10 of 10 - Ao Leuk (East Ko Tao)
10 of 10 - Hin Wong Bay (East Ko Tao)
10 of 10 - Light House Bay (North East Ko Tao)
7 of 10 - Nang Yuan off beach (North of Ko Tao)
I visited light house Bay as part of a round Ko Tao snorkel tour for 750 thb +100 thb for the entrance fee to Nang Yuan island. We only stayed at the bay for 40 minutes. I would love to have stayed for hours.

As a person completely new to snorkelling, I would like to point out that Lighthouse Bay is by far one of the best places to see sea life and coral. I should also say, that due to inexperience on my part, the only pictures I managed to get was of my foot bleeding everywhere on the boat after I'd accidently stood on some coral. I would like to point out that this is completely an error on my part, and should not in any way deflect on how beautiful this place is.
My wife, an experienced swimmer, was just a big fish here. She swam for about an hour and got some amazing shots of the coral and fish.
You can wear feet protection here, such as rubber shoes etc, but after leaving Ko Nang Yuan, where it's strictly forbidden to wear any type of footwear, I didn't think to check on the rules here and assumed it was the same.
Overall, this spot is incredible for snorkelling, but be wary of the sharp coral, and treat the fish with respect, as they might bite you on the bum (like the wife had).

Our first ocean dive with Big Blue was in this little bay. We only went to 12M, but I'll never forget my first diving experience here. It was a brand new world and so exciting to explore. Highly recommended!

Good place to snorkel. Some ledges and large coral formations. Water was clear. Bay was protected from winds.

I did my first PADI dive in this spot. It's a nice shallow spot for scuba diving for beginners to enjoy.

Very beautiful spot for snorkeling. Need to go by boat but worth every penny. Busy at some moments but take your time to enjoy the beautiful sealife.
