The monunent is dedicated to Kherson's shipbuilding history for both the Imperial Russian & Soviet navies. It is located at the river esplanade in a nice park. It is a good photo stop.

Whilst our ship was docked here we were taken to this park to see the monument. The guide explained the history and detail of how and why ships were built here. Fascinating history.

There is not a lot to this monument but the location makes it worth visiting on a nice day as that visit can take in a nice stretch of riverside promenade with good views. The monument itself is a rectangular column with a large plaque on one side showing Russian naval shipbuilding from Czarist times, and a much less attractive and well-excerpted plaque from Soviet times on the other. Atop the column is an impressive statue of the first ship built at the yard, which for some reason is described as a "frigate" when in fact it's a ship of the line, a much more powerful warship.

It is an experience to witness this view .Kherson once had 3 ship building yards of which only 1 is presently functional. In summers there is a boat from here to the oppsite bank of the river with organised river swimming .One can also pick upthe boats forsailing or gallavanting around,

I always love Soviet artwork, it is different from what we generally see in the west and I really like it. At this location, people were going out for small boat rides, buying something to drink, walking along the river, eating ice cream. Benches along the pats afford an opportunity to just relax and enjoy the waterfront and watch the variety of boats.

Probably the most famous of Kherson's monuments and right on the waterfront. A place where newly married couples often come to have pictures taken and right next to a massive cannon. There are a few food and drink outlets nearby and plenty of benches if you just want to sit and take the air. An easy stroll from Suvorova.

Monument to the Shipbuilders is the second symbol of the city. It is located on the waterfront of the river Dnieper. It is a perfect place for a mid-day stroll!

The monument is located where the mainstreet meets the river Dnieper. From the monument you have an excellent view over the river and a part of the port. An excellent place to visit if you have a walk through Kherson.
