This amazing tourist village, about 65 km from Tabriz, is known for its conical rocky architecture. Surprisingly, the inhabitants of the village still live in the hand-carved houses in the volcanic rocks! Wanna bring souvenirs back home? Kandovan is famous for honey, dried fruits, kilims, batik printing, and traditional scarves. The best time to visit here is late spring and early summer when it’s not very cold. You can accommodate either in Laleh International Rocky Hotel, in guesthouses, or local houses if you want to experience the local culture. You can also add to your experience by visiting the underground Hilehvar village, 2 km from Kandovan. Btw, the mineral water in Kandovan is said to cure kidney diseases.

its good but we visited in hurry. I think for a good experience you should stay at least one night in rural houses. Walking through alleys and caves is a unique experience.

I advice any one to rent a Rocky house or Stay in Hotel Laleh kandovan because visiting this village with hurry doesn't give you feeling of rural life , and inside rocky house has a positive energy. Also walking along Kandovan valley will show you nice view of village and experience rural life , it is possible to start your trip from Tabriz and first visit Colourful mountain and next kandovan village , hope to spend memorable time in east Azerbaijan province if you need any assistance count on me.

Kandovan is simply beautiful! This small village nestled in the mountains is home to some of the most unique and picturesque natural rock formations in the world. Walking through the winding alleys and cave dwellings was like stepping back in time, and the stunning views of the surrounding landscape were breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting Kandovan for a peaceful and awe-inspiring experience

Kandovan is an astonishing village located on the mountain flank of Sultan Daghi, Sabalan Mountain, located in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Kandovan Village is famous for its wonderful rocky architecture which is the result of volcanic activities and hand-carved structures. The inhabitants, basically, carved every room of the cliff houses like kitchens, halls, and even pens out of stone to make windows for the rooms and later, to decorate them with colorful glasses.

This place is a very unique village which is a must visit, natives live a Stoney small houses made with hand shaving the mountain, they sell things in to tourists, they have great honey, walnut, almond and also very warm handmade clothes made from wool.
because of being mountainous, it would be nearly impossible to go there in winter, but the weather is still amazing in summer.

I takes about one hour to arrive the village. Firsit you welcomed by the undergeound village of Hilevar which is nowadays vacant but the holes attract you to inside and explore you yourself. After few minutes you are in Kandovan which is s
till unique because of its local people. To have a panorama view of the village uou have to climb up the hill in front of it and from above the trees you could have whole view of the village on your screen of camera.
Delicious snacks!! It is all you see in the shops which are located in the homes! Dried fruits, local drinks and different spices. However you could get colorful scarfs to your girlfriends if you have!

I visited Kandowan 3 times in my tours .this beautiful village is a rocky village . most of people have their own products for selling .I myself bought a good honey over there which I think that it had a very good taste and more than this product you can find hand made bags and other things which are very good . In this village you can find a rocky hotel which called Laleh rocky hotel which is amazing because you can imagine one night sleeping in a cave and i think that for people like me who are interested to have this experince ,it is very exciting .
