Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Aggressive vendors. While the falls are pretty, dealing with the aggressive vendors made it a negative experience. They simply would not take no thank you as a response. I don't like to be rude to anyone, especially when I know they are struggling to make a few shillings, but telling me they have babies to feed did not make me want to but stuff that I don't want, need, or have room for. I would have sooner given them 50 shillings just to leave me alone but I doubt that would keep them from wanting more.

The Falls are not free. You will be charged to even get close enough to look and charged again if you want to hike down to them. THIS HIKE IS NOT FOR ANYONE WHO CAN NOT TOLERATE A HEAVY WORK OUT. I am in decent shape and hike from time to time and I almost didn't make it back up. Our entire group of young women/men in their twenties found it very hard and it is somewhat dangerous. We could only stay at the bottom of the falls for about ten minutes. I am not sure I would do it again. However, if you are in the area it is worth stopping buy and taking a picture. Don't let anyone take a picture with you or put animals on you. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU.

The Falls are breath-taking and beautiful. Excursion down to the bottom was very adventurous. However one needs a guide to keep away criminals who waylay visitors from the bushes with knives.

Truly appalling service. Stopped for bite to eat for toddlers and took nearly two hours for fish and chips. Staff did not care.

At waterfalls view point you pay to get in and then get harassed to buy stuff.

Will not be visiting again

If you have visited Iceland or other countries with large amounts of waterfalls, you might be a little disappointed but by itself it's a neat little waterfall. As with touristy areas everywhere, you can expect to see locals in their traditional attire but if you want to take a picture with them it will cost you a few shillings. The walkway can be treacherous in parts so be careful if it has rained.

The smooth roar of the falling waters at Thomson Falls is in itself a serenade of nature easing away every visitor's entry to a peaceful, humidly beautiful and serene environs. A valuable visit that is not only pocket friendly but equally interactive to sight.

This is one of the magical sites in Kenya. However, it's been highly commercialised with many shops dotting the place selling all manner of items. It's extremely difficult to have a quiet time at the falls with photographers, hawkers and taxi operators trying to get your attention. The local authority meds to regulate the operations within the park. For now, you are safe entering the water falls from Thomson Falls Hotel

Thompson Falls are a gem in Nyahururu. if you love nature, you will certainly love the splendid scenery here. Watching the waters come down with such tremendous force is beautiful to behold. Lots of photo opportunities, plus the guys dressed as 'maasais' may wanna take a pic with you for a fee.

Didn't walk downstream though, but could see guys there. Carry warm clothing if you visit in the late afternoon/early evening as it can get pretty chilly. :Look out for the many baboons that run around the grounds as well. They are shy though, couldn't get a pic :)

Lastly, hope the county government can take stern action on guys who throw litter. Parts of the falls were full of plastic.
