Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed with my husband at Qozhaya Monastery for three days in August 2009, serenity location, close to so many wonderful places, Ehden, Qannoubine and Qadisha valley, Bcharre, The cedars…
Warm friendly welcome, the room was simple, clean and comfortable, affordable price and a good location to families. The view was fabulous as well as the spacious terrace . It is very good base to explore the surrounding countryside, history and culture.

An amazing monastery in the middle of nature, where you can visit the rock church as well as the museum where you can see the first ever printing machine in the middle east. Also some old artifacts from the early Maronite era. Don't miss the big grotto near the entrance of the monastery where they used to lock the "deranged" overnight and pray for their salvation. There are many corners you can check out, also if you are willing to spend few days hiking the valley, you can always book a room in the monastery hostel or guest house. Hopefully this location will keep its spiritual spirit and not become a tourist atraction, like many other locations worldwide.

St. Anthonys Monastery is beautifully set deep in the lower Qadisha Valley, surrounded by towering cliffs. Dating back many centuries, it is an important centre for the Maronite Church, and retains the original caves in which the early monks lived. The Church, set into the Rock is very beautiful, and the whole place oozes serenity and prayer. There is a monastery guesthouse in a new block, with en-suite rooms, which you can book in advance. Rooms are simple but comfortable and cost $45 single and $60 twin including breakfast. The advantage of staying is that you can join the monks for the morning prayers and enjoy the surroundings at their most peaceful. Highly recommended.

In the same place you will see an old church within a cave. You can enter and climb an old stairs inside . You will see the first printer that came to Middle East in 1610.

Dier Qozhaya is a guest house along the Lebanon Mountain Trail. We stayed during the 30 day thru hike and it provided a clean, friendly and peaceful haven to refresh after a long day of hiking. The stay was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a hearty local meal and local wine. The rooms accommodated two people, had a provate bath with hot water and were clean and comfortable.

The only Qadisha Valley monastery which you can reach by coach. Last 3 km are really difficult for the driver, but then you reach a real osais of peace and silence... It gets crowded on Sundays as there are various religious services being held. Monastery itself - you can visit a grotto and the church partly carved in the rock. Being there visit the exposition including various tools, utensil, books (some of them in Arameic/Syriac) and the oldest printing machine in Middle East. Do not miss the story of the abbot who hit the Ottoman governor who stepped against the Maronite Order.

The monastery is in a beautiful location in the Qadisha Valley. The air is clear and the atmosphere one of peace. This is a working monastery, where you may see the monks walking around. There is a beautiful church as well as a rock church. You can go hiking in the area if you wish, however, we arrived by car.
Leave feeling refreshed.

St Antoines monastery is a working church and facility which offers accommodation for pilgrims and tourists alike. The church and the original cave church are lovely and worth a visit. There is chanting at various times of each and every day.
We were fortunate to experience a services with the hermit presiding
There is also a small museum with an Edinburg Printing Press
Not an easy place to get to and worth stopping at the top of the hill/mountain or the photos
The monastery is clearly wealthy owning much of the adjacent land and has the capability to be self sufficient
The canteen/café is a let down, poor and limited choice and very much like a cheap educational establishment

If you don't have your own transport, you will have to walk around 8 km (both ways) to visit this place. We did it, and at the end,we hitch hiked with the monks directly to Beirut!
The place is superb, and there are a couple of rooms to visit.
Enjoy the view!!
