Harder than we estimated.

Walking through sand dunes demands good condition and stamina. We did train on mountain tours lasting five or six hours, but that was not enough for what came along.

A good tip is to go to Merzouga yourself and not with a tour from Marrakech, so you have enough time

We went by Camel to a nomadtent to sleep in. I am not sure if the Camels were really happy, but the guide did love them a lot, you could tell. The ride through the dunes was special and the campsite was nice. Once the fire started and we had warmed op a bit, we could really enjoy the breathtaking... More

This was our first trip to the desert and it was one of the highlights of our time in Morocco. The stillness and sparse beauty. We wished we had had better cameras to capture the play of shadows when the sun goes down and comes up. Cant wait to get back and experience it again

Exotic and historical, this was well worth the stop. The camel ride was fun and the dunes at sunset were magical. We saw numerous fossils in the rockbed out cropping. One could imagine the camel caravans coming across the desert.

I didn't expect to be on the front of a camel train riding out into the desert for an hour to our overnight tented accommodation at the foot of a giant sand-dune you had to use hands and feet to climb. I'd bought a 3 day trip from Marrakech but hadn't considered what a liberating and fun time I'd have... More

You have to see the dunes and desert at least once when in Morocco. Beautiful sunsets and can do camel riding and sand boarding. Just make sure to choose the right tour operator.

You cannot visit Morocco without visiting the Sahara. Absolutely beautiful and plenty of tour groups around to show you the sites (don't be afraid to barter and shop around)

Beautiful sand dunes, special experiences: camel ride, overnight in the middel of the desert in berber tents. The calmest place in Morocco, but unfortunatelly the quads can destroy the authentic experience-should be at least restricted.

Loved the dunes here. You can walk up to it and take all the desert has to offer. Come during sunset and you can see the sun setting on the horizon. It is beautiful. Sunrise is just a pretty!
