Together with my family we had the pleasure to travel around the south of Marocco for about 2 weeks. The driver was professional and kind. The food in the camp was abundant and delicious. Recommended experience.

We booked a three day two night desert tour that took us from Marrakesh to Erg Chigaga and back and it was truly amazing! Our guide was friendly and informative, taking us to lots of Berber villages and historic sites along the way. It's a long drive, and he gave us just the right mix of information and time to space out and watch the scenery go by.
Our tour happened right after the earthquake and we weren't sure if it was still going to be possible, but the organizers were very responsive to all of our many questions and assured us that we were going away from the epicenter and would not be interfering with routes needed for emergency vehicles and supplies.
While some of the historic kasbahs were closed due to damage, we still got to see so many things it's hard to imagine having packed in more! Driving in the streets of Marrakech and in the desert are both really difficult in their own ways and our guide handled it all seemingly with ease and we felt safe and comfortable at all times.
The Atta Desert Camp at Erg Chigaga was really incredible- riding camels to watch the sunset over the dunes, eating an amazing dinner by a campfire and then having traditional Berber music was an unforgettable experience. Our camp guide was also really wonderful and offered to pull our bed out of our tent to sleep under the stars. We took him up on it and I'm so glad we did! He also made us a really delicious breakfast in the morning before we departed camp. The dunes are truly the most peaceful and magical backdrop for all of it - takes a while to get there but it is totally worth it! And on our way back we got to see gazelles and camels grazing in the wild which was a total surprise.
We were the only tourists at the camp during our stay - my guess is folks heard about the earthquake and cancelled their plans. But what we kept hearing from the locals was that in the wake of one disaster, losing tourism income was another hardship. If you're considering going, I 100% recommend it! There will be lots of opportunities along your tour to visit villages off the beaten path and help support them through this rough time. Our guide made it clear that we were not expected to buy things at every stop, but I promise you will find things that will make amazing keepsakes and gifts so leave lots of space in your suitcase!
There are quite a few tour companies, but I highly recommend Amazing Journeys Morocco - everything about our trip was so carefully planned and well communicated- it really was the trip of a lifetime. 10/10 would do again and hope we get to someday!

Thank you so much for this insightful and helpful feedback. Coming so soon after the earthquakes was a big leap of confidence, and we are very glad you stuck with the original plans. It was a difficult time for everyone and those most drastically effected will need ongoing support for a long time. By your coming, it helps. The Erg Chegaga desert is a special place, and we are so pleased you enjoyed it - its a place to take a breath in this busy world. Thanks for coming with us.

We started our four day tour starting from Marrakesh on the last day of August. We were lucky because the weather just had changed and it wasn’t as hot as it was the week before. The first night we spend at the hotel at the river Draa, called “la Fraicheur du Draa”. We were amazed that in this quite dry area that was a large pool. The food was abundant and very good, the people of the hotel were very nice.
The next day we drove along the valley of the Draa towards the desert. Along the journey we visited interesting places. One of the highlights was that Houssayn, our very safe and experienced driver invited us for lunch at his family home near to the desert. His family was very nice and generous. We had an excellent lunch.
The desert and the drive into it was breathtaking, a once in a lifetime experience.
We had the luck to stay in the luxury camp which was luxurious indeed. Of course the nights were still very warm inside so the very nice Mohammed put our beds outside, so that we could sleep under the stars in total quietness. Beautiful.
Our best food in Morocco, we had on our trip, no matter if it was on the road or in the desert camp.
We hope so much that the people we met are not affected by the terrible earthquake!

Amazing Journeys made our first visit to Morocco so memorable. From Marrakesh, which is a feast for the senses, to the other-worldly desert camp at Erg Chigaga where we slept under the stars and rode camels into the dunes at sunrise, to the oasis city of Zagora, the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the winding alleys of the ancient Medina of Fès with our guide Fettah, we could not have imagined a better trip. Part of our visit coincided with the major holiday of Eid-up-Adha when most shops, restaurants and attractions are closed. Amazing Journeys careful planning helped us avoid any inconveniences, taking us to the desert when the cities were shuttered. We also can’t say enough about our driver Housayn. Not only was he safe and conscientious on the road, but he was a fount of information about his country. During Eid, on our way to Zagora, we drove through Housayn’s hometown. His family invited us to lunch. On a trip with many highlights, that meal with his family stands out. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your generous and thoughtful feedback. It is always rewarding to hear how the holiday worked out especially when planned over a major holiday/festival period. Sometimes traveling in holiday periods presents surprising bonuses. Thanks for coming.

We had been dreaming of a trip to Morocco since we met and this even exceeded our long held expectations! There is no reason to not to book with this crew right now, we researched everything and found out in the end that they know it all and will take you to all the right spots at the right time for the right rate. Our children were cared for by our safe driver and we were all well fed and hosted at every turn. Especially in the desert which seems so remote but this team makes it possible and worth the long haul (which they do for you and pick great stops along the way). We even left our favorite stuffed animal behind on the trip and they figured out how to send it back to us from the desert!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a generous review - these comment always help our team. It was fun having you all and a pleasure making it happen. We are especially happy little white Lambie found his way home. After becoming separated from the family he had quite a tour but finally, by magic carpet, flew home with more than a few tales/tails to tell. Thanks for coming!

This was the most amazing tour my husband and I have every been on. And we are in our 60s so we have seen plenty. It was a 3 day tour starting in Marrakech with quite a few stops at Kazbahs, Atlas studios, Cooperative for carpet weaving, Pottery making, Koranic library and Islamic school, etc. Extremely educational. Private tour guide Hocine was amazing, very accommodating and personable and even took us to meet his family which was awesome. The Atta camp itself was amazing and above our expectations as to comfort, wifi, food, bathroom facilities incl. showers, etc. And the service was amazing. Mohammed pulled out the incredibly comfortable king size bed in front of our tent so we could sleep under the stars - what a night! Camel ride through the sand dunes to watch the gorgeous sunset was amazing. Once in a lifetime experience.

We just got back from a trip to Morocco that included a 4-day/3-night excursion from Marrakech to the Sahara and on to Fès. And it was magnificent!
Our driver, El Houssayn Oualoulou, picked us up in Marrakech and accompanied us on the whole journey, explaining the sights along the way, providing guidance and advice, and sometimes hilarious commentary. He is friendly, professional, responsible, knowledgeable, a safe driver, and utterly charming. We learned so much not only about the historical sites we visited but also about Amazigh (Berber) culture from him.
A highlight, even before we got to the desert, was the Todra Gorge. Spectacular scenery. On a par with some of the great windswept landscapes in the American Southwest and the vast fairycastles and mountains of Kapadokya in Turkey.
But oh, the desert! There was a wind/sand storm when we arrived for our 1.5-hour camel ride at Erg Chebbi, and it was thrilling. Honestly, I feel lucky that we experienced this instead of a still, calm, sunny day. It was like stepping back into time, thousands of years ago. Our guide, Sa'id, led us along peaked sand dunes to the stunning luxury camp. This was glamping par excellence. Our private tent was better than some hotel rooms we've stayed in in our lives!
After a hot shower (yes, private bath in your private tent), we went to dinner and ate a sublime meal of freshly prepared food. Then came live music and dancing, followed by a walk up the dunes to see the brilliant night sky.
There's so much more to say about this wonderful trip, but I've gone on too long. Go for it, book it, have the trip of your life, and request Houssayn as your driver. You won't regret it.

We had a magnificent experience on our 4 days/3 nights roundtrip from Marrakech to the beautiful glamping tents in Erg Chegaga and returning to Marrakech with Amazing Journeys Marocco in January. We were so pleased with this company that operate both the tour and the Atta Desert camp. It’s important to realize how far Erg Chegaga is from Marrakech and to enjoy the amazing desert a minimum of 2 nights in the desert we highly recommend. Our driver and guide Housayn arrived right on time for the pick-up at our accommodation in Marrakech and drove us carefully and safe via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and we stopped several times to visit some beautiful places like Kasbah Telouet, Ait Ben Haddou and Kasbah Taourirt. The overnight stay in Tamnougalt selected by the company was also very good. We enjoyed the landscape, the berber villages and kasbah’s and made a lot of photos.
The second day we visit the famous Koranic library at Tamegroute after lunch (opening after 3.00 pm) and stopped to visit the family of Housayn and drink tea with them. Housayn drove safely and carefully on the bumping and shaking roads through the sand dunes with the 4x4 to the glamping tents in Erg Chegaga dunes. What an amazing place to stay with towering red-gold dunes, made of the finest powdery sand you can imagine. We stayed for 2 nights in the luxury camp with private hot shower and toilet and enough blankets to keep you warm at night (5-6 degrees). Bring warm clothes, a warm jacket and enough layers to wear! During the day it’s about 18-20C and a perfect temperature for sandboarding, walking in the desert and camel trekking. We saw the sunrise started round 7.45 am and sunset and the magnificent stars at night. The environment is breath-taking but we also had an incredible experience due to the dedicated staff in the camp. We had the best lunch in this camp of our 7 days stay in Morocco and Marrakech prepared by the cook Said in the desert. The staff manager, Mohammed, is a perfect host and so helpful to make your stay a once in a lifetime experience. Housayn, drove us to a nomad family and teached us some Arabic words in the Nomad School. He showed us the poisonous plant known as the apple of sodom and we tasted some salty needles growing from a tree. We had an amazing experience in the Erg Chegaga that we will never forget. The last day we drove in one day back from Erg Chegaga to Marrakech. A long drive but enough time for stops and searching for fossils, visiting Tazenakht and to see traditional carpet weaving, take photos and stop for lunch or drink coffee/tea/hot-chocolate by the fireplace. We even had snow on the Tizi n‘Tichka Pass!! Respect for our driver Housayn for his carefully driving on the dizzying hair-pin bends and off-road bumping roads and make our tour to a magnificent experience we will never forget.
Lahsen & Julia thanks for organizing the tour and always quick reply’s and advising us about the 4 days/3night roundtrip from Marrakech to ATTA Desert Camp and changing the 4x4 car because of some starting problems. Shukran!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful, helpful review which will sure to be interesting to others thinking of a similar trip. The desert is a long drive so to spend 2 nights here as you did, makes a memorable tour with time to experience this special place and all it offers. Thanks so much for coming.
