Not Hot
Jan 2016 • Solo
I would never tell people to not visit. It's a nice family spot. Great place for an outdoor picnic. But if you're into hot springs... this would be more appropriately termed 'a warm springs'. There are several public warm pools and one especially for families with kids. There are also private enclosed areas. A nice place but the water is definitely not hot.

The Upper Pool Is Nice
May 2016 • Solo
The first time I visited the Baños de Monterrey was in 1979. It was popular, well kept. I was there more recently in May, 2016. It is run down. It wasn't dirty, but has lacked care for the grounds and structures for too long. I visited the upper pool only, and the water is plenty warm from the thermal springs. There were very few people there, mostly extranjeros. The water and pool itself was fine, so my rating of very good. I think if you go to swim and just laze around it will be a good day.

15 minutes from huaraz (bus line 1 to monterrey for 1 sol)
private bath available, nice big pool
Good water with excellent healing quality and a hotel next door if you want to stay
Not luxury but very enjoyable
cheap ($1.5)
But i prefer Chancos for its herbal bath....it is not offered here

It's OK but not geared to tourists
Jul 2016 • Couples
Look the place is OK and only 4 Soles each for the public areas but the facilities are definitely South American and basic.

The public pools are showing their age and the water is definitely from a mineral spring, as it's brown. The change rooms are little more than a screen and the showers, while warm are open.

It only costs 1.5 Soles on colectivo No.1 to get there from the central market. It's the end of the line so you don't even have to worry about where to get off.

Great place to go and relax
Jul 2016 • Family
Day 24 in Peru and feeling slightly altitude sick we decided to have a day to relax in the hot water. Beware if you bring a white bathing suit it will not stay white. Not bad for 4 soles. You have access to the main big pool and the hot tub. The pool water is warm but the hot tub water is really hot. Remember your shampoo and soaps because the showers are nice and hot. The dressing room for women is just a big room with a door and a bench. The mens dressing room is just a cement wall with no doors. We had a great time.

Not worth it!
Jul 2016 • Friends
Overcrowded and does not look clean! Not worth a visit outside Huaraz in an organised tour or by public transportation.

It's cheap so if you need to kill time...
Mar 2016
Me and my partner paid for the general pool and a private room. Unfortunately the place is really badly maintained with cracks in the tiles etc so sftef the private bath we decided not to bother with the general pool. We asked for our money back on the general pool as we didn't use it but they refused refund. If you have a few hours spare and need to kill some time then go as its very cheap but it's really nothing special :/

Awful service!
Aug 2015
I went with my girlfriend to the Baños Termales because we were told that they were relaxing and healing. We took a van to Monterrey (It's like 45 min from Huaraz). We arrived 1 hour before they close. In the entrance, we were attended by a impolite and prepotent old man. He offered us only to go to the private tub rooms because they were close to finish they labor day, and that option was faster. After that awful experience with that old man, we entered for 4 soles in a 20 min private tub room. It is true that the baños are very relaxing, we had a great time. But the whole experience was ruined by the service. If you go, I hope that you get no attended by that old man! Good luck!
