I thoroughly enjoyed the experience with Rudoplho and his team for the Cordillera Huayhuash 8 day trek. He is an experienced guide with a true passion for what he does.
I had lingering travelers sickness on night one of the hike (vomiting and diarrhea), and he calmly discussed options with me the next morning and made me feel at ease about the situation. After taking medicine and riding the “emergency” horse for the second day I felt much better and the remainder of the trek was seamless.
Rudoplho’s team for the trek also includes an excellent cook Aurelio who prepares tasty meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am not kidding when I say the meals were better than much of the other food I’ve tried in Peru.
Look no further for an extremely professional and knowledgeable guide that will ensure the best possible experience for his trekkers!

Had such an amazing experience with Rodolfo and his team. He was calm, cool and adjusted for a variety of physical abilities and ages.
Food was nutritious and we were well catered for. Donkeys and horse were well fed and happily had time to munch away in green fields after their days work.

We enjoyed the 10 day huayhuash trek with David, Bernardo en Oliverio a lot. The trek in itself is beautiful and with this team it was great. They are sympathetic, friendly and caring all day long. Also to the other people at the campsites and underway. The equipment, for example the tents are good and comfortable. And the food is delicious!!! All our contacts with Rodolfo, from our first email, to live in Huaraz and afterwards were pleasant and professional. They do what they promise and even more. The trek is very well organized. If we should go again we would book here immediately.

I was lucky to go on a 10-day circuit trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash with Rodolfo as our guide. He was very professional, patient, and kind. Excellent communication before and during our trip. I always felt safe and well guided throughout my time in the mountains.
Let me just say the food we ate everyday was delicious. Doing a trek with porters, cooks, and donkeys carrying my gear was so great. I was able to fully relax, enjoy the beautiful mountains, and only worry about the hiking and picture taking. I would highly recommend Huaraz Treks and Climbs with Rodolfo. This was an incredibly memorable experience!

The Huayhuash circuit was excellent and Rodolfo, our guide and the owner of the company, did an excellent job. He was knowledgeable, helpful, patient and took wonderful care of us. The staff, including the cook, assistant cook and donkey drivers, were amazing. They fed us delicious Peruvian food, set up our camp, and made us very comfortable in spite of the cold overnight temperatures.
The high Andean Mountains were gorgeous, the mountain passes were a bit challenging but well worth the effort. A truly remarkable trek which exceeded my expectations.
I highly recommend Huaraz Treks, especially since they are a local Peruvian company and hire local Peruvians from the villages near Huaraz.

Our experience hiking the Santa Cruz trail was spectacular- Rodolfo and his team created an unforgettable experience for my friend and I. Good food along the way and very organized - from the time we contacted Rodolfo with initial questions during our planning phase, to the time he dropped us back at our hotel after finishing the trek, he was responsive and professional

Rodolfo is the best! I did the Laguna 69 trek with him, and he answered all of my questions about the plants, animals, and history/culture of the area. He is very experienced and has completed the highest level of mountaineer training. When we had lunch he made us hot tea and shared a honey sandwich with me. After I got home I had a few questions about a day hike I was doing the next day and he helped me plan it. Highly recommend!

Excellent experience! The guides were very dedicated to making sure we had the support we needed to have an epic adventure. Make sure you train hard for this though. 18,871ft is a lot!

It was a special experience having Rodolfo and his team guide us to Nevado Pisco for the weekend. They were personable, professional, and competent. We were served three tasty meals per day and the price was quite reasonable. Thank you Rodolfo, David, and Juan!

A (sometimes literally) breathtaking hike! More than comfortable: with tents already put up upon arriving on astonishing camp spots (thank you Cirillo), lovely lunch and dinner with lots of veggies provided by the wonderful cook (thank you Bernardo) and professional guidance (thank you Rodolfo), the four of us girls couldn't but feel like princesses being assisted on their 4-day mountain trek.

Hi Peter
I am doing the Huayhuash circuit with Rodolfo in September and would appreciate any advice you can share. I am in absolutely no doubt the I have picked a great guide, so now just to make sure I am well organised!
Is there anything you wish you had taken (hot water bottle, meds, warm or cool clothes) or wish you had left behind (maybe too many thermals)?
Did you take any of your own snacks (Choc, Sweets, Muslie bars)?
And the big question that is bothering me heaps is how much to tip the team. I know they rely on this as part of their income and family support. Rodolfo created a trip especially for me (amazing) and there may or may not be others on the trip. I want to make sure I tip the right amount even if on my own. I see a tip guide saying $3-$5 a day for support team and $8-$10 a day for the guide. Is this per person or per hiking team. It per team then I'm Ok with that. If it is per hiker, then I need to work out how much i top up to make sure the team are fairly compensated.
Thanks heaps
Julie

Hi Julie-this is Debbie and I just came back from a month trip in Peru and did the Huayahash with Rodolfo. We also did an excursion to Machu Picchu and to the Amazon where we had guides and needed to tip them as well. The Lonely Planets says $15-20/day per person for the guide. It’s doesn’t break it down for porters, cooks, etc—-but Rodolfo will give you the scoop. Just bring enough cash (we gave them crisp American$) and we were happy to give what was suggested because it seemed fair and they were absolutely amazing!
