About
One of the main symbols of the four-century Turkish rule over Podgorica. This building, built by Hafis-Pasha in the 18th century, dominates the landscape of the Stara Varos. This cultural and historic monument has been the only public clock in the city for a long time.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A decent place with few shops for souvenirs. Not adequate info about the place or structure. Visible while moving around the city.

Nothing much is left of Podgorica's old city after the destructive bombings during WOII, but this 17th century clock tower is. For the Ottoman elite at the time it was important their subjects knew which time to pray.
As so many other remnants of Ottoman Turkish hegemony in the region it was restored with financial support of the Turkish government that perhaps wants to restore more than just historic monuments.

It really was a let down. The area is run down, the clock tower is a disappointment. The old town is just a collection of houses.

Unfortunately, due to Podgorica being continually bombed during World War II, not many structures survived the war. One of the oldest structures left in the city is the Clock Tower, which dates from the 18th century during the Ottoman Empire. The tower, which is near the Ribnica Bridge, is a great place for pictures. There also are many fine restaurants in the area.

located in the old town, this well preserved tower, built in 17th century is one of the best monument in Podgorica though, I would say: nothing special

Not many types of buildings can survive what this monument did. It's crazy to think that it is still standing. The Clock Tower, named Sahat Kula, was one of the few landmarks that survived the WW2 bombings. It was built in 1667, is made of stone and stands 19 meters tall. It was renovated in January 2012 and a new electric mechanism was installed. We didn't know what to expect, but the contrast of the stones with the blue sky looked really cool.

The clock tower - a typical feature of Islamic/Islam-inspired Old Towns all over south-eastern Europe - marks the 'entrance' to Podgorica's modest Old Town and is its most striking and photogenic feature.

Clock Tower is one of old buildings which is still standing in the heart of old town, Podgorica. Do not forget to pay a visit to adjoining restaurant, Pod Volat.

Very nicely restored by the Turkish government, a nice piece of history, but not a great deal to see. Less than 10 minutes from the center of town.
