If you’re not familiar with Asian dancing or drumming this show would be very worthwhile. Each of the dances was relatively short, and the whole thing lasted an hour.

if you are in Kandy and love the local heritage then you should try the Kandyan Dance Performance. People from South India can so relate this to be a blend of Mohiniattam to Katahakalli and so on to other related dances.

It wasn’t my choice to visit the Kandyan dance show - and it is not something that I would choose myself. However despite this I enjoyed the performance. The athleticism of some of the dancers is amazing as is the fire eating and walking.

5pm. But at that time it is a scramble to get good seating - no reserved seating exists. Reach about 15 to 30 minutes early. The duration is about an hour including a Fire dance which is outside the performance hall.
You buy tickets at the entrance of the Red Cross Hall where the performances are held. I would buy tickets early to get good seats. From the Temple of the Tooth, you walk along the lake away from the downtown/shopping/ area... More
