It is hard to get up there - I suggest driving as far as you can. The statues is huge but not artistically impressive. The view is great!

For 250 rupiahs you can enjoy a view of Kandy from the top of the Buddha: just this is worth the visit. We tried to reach it from downtown but gave up at a certain point: we couldn't not find it on google maps and we must have gone the wrong way. However, it should be feasible if you don't... More

So interesting. The building is beautiful, has a special feel. No shoes worn in this place, extremely popular with the locals. The history is incredible with all the ancient pieces.

The only good thing here is that you can see the whole kandy city from top of the budha. Before you enter, you have to store your shoes by the man in front of it, next there is always a child that come in the ticket office puts some "budha" clothes on and wants money for entry. What you get... More

Stunning to see this Buddah up close, great photos contrasting against the blue sky. If you dont fancy a very steep hill climb, get a tuktuk. Also, you need sarongs to cover legs and arms and there is a stall there charging to store your shoes - just put them in your bag, it isn't necessary to pay.

Huge buddha looking out over the city. Fabulous views of the city. It's a bit of a trek to reach so probably best to take a tuk tuk. Worth a visit.

Walking up was nice and the view over kandy is amazing. Totally worth the sweating! The "inside" of the statue for us was not worth the money (250rps.). Not much information and almost nothing to see, except for a souvenir shop. If you want to take the stairs to the top of the statue, you habe to pay the entrance... More

There is a charge for entering the temple area, 250 each. The views from the top (or as high as you can go) are great and you can see far across Kandy and the surrounding area. Remember to keep some small change for the minders to look after your shoes.

We drove past this statue several times as it is on the main road. We never stopped to admire it but took pictures as we drove past

It was the best local for Sunset in Kandy, I loved it, each level of stairs going to the top give a different perspective of Kandy sometimes revealing mountains and lakes and others aspects of the city.
