You are asked to remove your shoes but the stone steps are so so hot to walk on. Once up on the site it is not so bad. It is quite a lot of stairs to the top viewpoint. There is a book shop also...More

We visited one evening at the insistence of our tuk tuk driver, who said we couldn't leave Kandy without visiting the Buddha. He was right. A serene and beautiful experience, we were so glad we took the time.

We traveled to Bahiravokanda Vihara by tuk tuk and came back by walk. I think it's the most convenient way. It was nice journey and you can enjoy the picturesque Kandy city with cool breeze.

Can walk up towards the top of the statue and there are incredible views of Kandy and the neighbouring towns. I would recommend taking transport up there though. Very clean and there are a few friendly dogs there too.

We had a tuk-tuk driver take us up here and it was a nice, but short visit. Walk up to the top of the statue to get a good view of the city
