Best time to be there is either early morning or late in the evening. Quite a walk from the city passing the police station.

Worth a quick visit for the views. Impressive size of a large budda. Not much else there. You will spend about 5-10 minutes tips here.

On top of the hill you should have seen visiting Kandy. Our driver took a very nice road where normally no tourist do come. On the board of a very nice lake.

We travelled here by 3-wheeler. Beautiful views as far as Knuckles and to the city below of course. A staircase takes you to the level of the shoulder and there is a Shrine with images inside as well as a Buddhist shop just outside. Gents...More

There is a steep hill on the way up to the Buddha. When you get to the top, make sure you have a bag to put your shoes in or you’ll have to pay a donation to keep them with a bloke at the door....More

The Buddha is an imposing sight over the city of Kandy and no less impressive close up. It’s a 15 minute tuk tuk ride to the top, only 500 rupees to get in but then another donation is more or less demanded by a man...More

We got a Tuk Tuk up here from Kandy Lake. It’s pretty cool but I’m not sure it’s worth the journey up the hill. It’s a beautiful monument but if you’re looking for a good photo it’s going to be difficult as the space around...More

No it isn't. They charge you 200 rupees to get in, as well as more money to look after your shoes! whilst I was there they followed me around asking me for more money in the form of donations.
