Several of the reviews of this place are very unfair.

The first thing to understand about Ayuverdic spas in Sri Lanka is that they are everywhere. It is not like the western version of a spa, e.g. whale music and expensive hotels. Ayurvedic medicine is a staple in Sri Lanka, and many of the facilities look more like the local GPs. You should look for certification, which this one had.

We visited here in the morning and were able to book treatments for both of us at the end of the day.

The treatments were fantastic. I could have stayed in the steam bath all day it was so relaxing. Yes, the rooms don't have a/c, and the light flickered a bit, but for me, it added to the ambience. It reminded me I was somewhere real and not some soulless chain spa in the UK.

The ayurvedic spa is not a Swedish massage nor a sports massage its something very different. Once you get used to the smell of the oils (which reminded me of soy sauce), it is a thoroughly pleasing experience. Different cultures have different holistic therapies, and this is Sri Lanka's. Open your mind and enjoy.

Compared to the prices I have paid for regular massages in the UK, the value of 4,500Rs for 70 minutes was nothing.

We really enjoyed this massage. It's down to earth, basic and pure. The location is remote at 10 minute drive from Kandy center, but don't let this discourage you. Staff were friendly, modest and professional. We had the basic massage of 1 hour (Rs 6,000), additional options were explained well with extra time and costs associated. There were lockers where to store our stuff during the massage.

As some mentioned already, do not expect a luxury European spa, nor a full Ayurvedic treatment which takes weeks. Do expect an Ayurvedic full body massage, with 3 types of oil, either soft or rough as you prefer. It is indeed oily as this belongs to this type of massage.
The rooms were basic, lights flickered but soft background music made up for it.

All in all a very nice experience which I would recommend.

We paid over 35,000 (107€) for 2 massages of 1 hour and a 20 minute bodyscrub. Pay up front.
There are no prices listed, the lady at the reception was impatient and not very polite. We were in a bit of a pressured siguation because of the recommendation of the tuktuk driver otherwise we would have left.
When finished no tea or water was offered, the lady of the reception did not ask anything, no smile, even no goodbye. The massage itself was ok and the ladies nice. I did not tip because I was shocked with the amount and treatment of reception. I felt a bit bad as I don’t think the masseuses will get a fair payment of the high amount..
Would not recommend the place.

We went there with four girls because of a recommendation of our tour guide, even though it’s a bit outside of the city. Two of us booked the full body massage plus whole body scrub (supposed to be 1:20 hour long) the other two booked the same plus a face scrub (supposed to take 1:30 hour). All of us payed around 50$ which we felt was a very high price for Sri Lankan standard. The positive thing is that the masseuses were very friendly and welcoming. But two of them kept talking during the massages which made it hard to relax. The beds had no holes to put your head through, which could make neck pain worse for some people. The rooms were very cold and as you had to lie there naked it got pretty cold during the body scrub for which they used only cold water. To clean our faces they used tissues instead of towels. What was most frustrating for us was that the two girls who booked 1:30 hours got out after an hour and even before the ones who only booked 1:20 hour! (Including a shower afterwards) When we complained about that afterwards they just said to leave a bad review.

Okay, I have had ayurvedic treatments and massages before, and an incredible experience just a few weeks ago at Plantation Villa, Kalutara I know what it should be.

This was horrible. She was way to rough and deep- NOT Ayurvedic style at all. When I told her she was hurting me she actually laughed! She was not at all mindful. She was breathing really hard and fast during the massage, saying hard was good. It's not supposed to be like that.

Just don't go.They are not professional at all. It's a tourist catcher.
The risponsible went into the room whereas my friend and I were almost naked (we are 2 women).
There was no music and lot of men were talking very loud and laugh during the hour of massage. It was not nor peacful not relaxing at all.
The masseuses were fast and gestures were not as good as usual ayurvedic massages.
Finaly, we asked the risponsible for a commercial gesture but we did nothing and was not friendly at all.
Run away from this place!

A very nice place that I recommend, being in the profession I know what I'm talking about and I affirm that it is one of the best massages I have ever received. An excellent, accommodating and welcoming center with high quality therapists and a unique sympathy in Kandy
Thank you to the whole team for this timeless moment.

DO NOT GO HERE. It is filthy, unprofessional and the most hideous treatment ever. It is two days later and the stinking black oil and stench won't leave my hair. I've shampooed 7 times.
The treatment room is dirty and it costs a fortune. Disgusting.

Instead of paying a higher price for the hotel spa treatment, our driver recommended this "great" local massage spot. Feeling adventurous we thought why not give it a try. We opted for a couples massage which costed us 3500 LKR each, even though our driver claimed that it wouldn't cost more than 3000 LKR.

The horror began when we were escorted to the dreadful treatment room, it honestly looked like a torture chamber, nothing to remind you that this is a relaxation place. Our two beds were separated by a dirty hospital curtain, so it did not even feel like a couples massage.

We were both told to get completely naked, no dressing gown and comfy slippers, or even a towel provided. Having his first massage experience and not knowing any better, my poor husband actually took everything off and as a result got his private parts invaded during the massage on multiple occasions.

The massage starts with the masseuse wrapping you in a questionable greasy sheet, pouring what seemed to be engine oil all over your head for a head massage. I have an issue with people touching my hair, so was lucky enough to escape this procedure. I think husband still has oil in his ears.

The next step was a full body massage. The aim of this procedure is to cover every inch of the customer's body in oil with frantic rubbing movements. There was no technique to it what so ever. My elderly masseuse was constantly scratching me with her nails and coughing on me, presumably for a better experience.

The massage was followed by a steam bath which is basically a wooden coffin with log fire underneath. At least they didn't touch you for 10 mins.

At the end of it, you are wiped with a towel. Even though there is a shower in the room, we were not allowed to use it.

To top it off they expected a tip! If this was a European country with an excellent customer service, I would have asked for a full refund.

This is honestly the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Avoid at all costs.

This place is fantastic for a herbal treatment. The masseuses are so friendly and they know what they are doing. We payed 3500 lkr for 70 min. The treatment is finalized with 10 min in a wooden casket with steam. A great experience.
