Long, very long column street that is totally worth the walk. If you do a car trip in Syria, this does not deviates too much from the route you need to take in order to touch every landmark

I have been to Syria twice now, and although Palmyra is a stunner, Apames has stolen my heart. What remains of the 2 km Cardo Maximus makes it really easy to image what a glory this place was in its days. It was a rainy...More

The columned main street of this town is about a mile long, with much of the middle having been taken to construct local villages. The rest was painstakingly restored by a Belgian/Syrian team, and is most impressive.
