Nice view and free entrance. Small temple and short visit. Be sure to try the tea leaf egg at the bottom of the temple.

this temple is located on the top of the hill, if you dont have a travel vehicle, you can only walk from the bottom to the top.. a total of 1km+ of stairs!!! but after u reach this place, you will know that it is worth the walk

The temple gives graphical story of Xuan Zhuang (famous monk who went to India to learn true Buddhism and carries his learning back to China, AKA the monk in Monkey King). The stories are vivid with both Chinese and English translations. Very educational. Strongly recommended.

This is a quick stop, just to take photos to clock the destination. Nothing much but there is nothing else to do at the mountains

Taking the boat to Xuan Guang Si stop (where the famous tea leaf eggs stall is located), we walked up to the temple but it was already closed. We then decided to take a little hiking trail to the nearby Xuan Zang Si, which was about 400-500m away. The trail was lined with stone slabs for walking inside the woods.... More

The grounds are very peaceful with nice areas to sit and look out over Sun Moon Lake. There are relics to view on the upper level of the Temple and definitely worth the climb.

It was on the way out of the sun moon lake so we stopped for about 10 minutes to take few photos but that's about it. So stop there if you are near by and you find parking but you are not missing much if you skip it.

This is a decent temple, located on the bank of the Sun Moon lake. We took a boat ride to get to the temple, which can be accessed by a 5-minute climb. Behind the temple, there are several paths into the woods, leading to viewing platforms of the lake.

If you go too the Sun Moon Lake Don't miss The Xuan Zhuang Temple. The monastic worship Patriarch of knowledge (Wen) is a Prophet of Confucius and the god of war Ares is the god Guan Yu integrity. Including two marble lions in front of the temple, which has a value of one million Taiwan dollars.

The temple enshire a part of the skull bone of the famous monk Hsuan Tsang, who visited India during the Tang dynasty to collect some Buddhist text. Peaceful and quiet, beautiful and serene. I wish to have more time here. Clean toilet facilities. Superb view of the Sun Moon Lake.
