We had an absolutely wonderful time with Gajendra! I have done A Chefs Tour in Chiang Mai and I think this one was even better! My friends and I said among ourselves after that we simply would not have been able to navigate Old Delhi on our own. Gajendra was a total gem - he had so much information, not only about the food but about the culture and daily lives of people. The 4 hours flew by! It was also great to go into the Sikh temple and up to the top of the Spice Market - these little touches put it way above a standard food tour. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Delhi. Tip: wear comfy shoes you don’t mind getting destroyed. It rained the day we went and the old town was one big mud puddle!

If you love local life, history, and/or delicious food then this is a must tour for you! Gajendra, is a well seasoned tour guide, full of information not only about the food, but people, history, and culture as well. Getting to experience the Sikh temple and have Gajendra explain every aspect of what is going on really helped me to understand and appreciate the beauty of the scene. Come hungry ready to eat sweet and creamy yogurt dishes, flavor packed masalas with naan fresh out of the tandoori, and finishing it off again with sweet packed desserts.

Brilliant tour. We met our guide at the metro station (metro very easy to use in Delhi) however we ended up at the wrong exit. It was no problem, our guide went out of his way to find us. We then had a walk through Old Delhi visiting some beautiful buildings as well as amazing street food vendors - we tried some of the best food I’ve ever eaten and our guide was brilliant. We got to understand a bit more about this part of Delhi and saw some interesting sites- including view from top of a building. Thanks!

Prior to this food tour, I have resdy been around Gujarat for 5 days and thought I have basically eaten all the staples of Indian cuisine. What I didn't know is that over at New Delhi, A Chef's Tour will be presenting me a new, immersive experience about it. About the tour: The tour started at 12 noon and promised me over 4 hours of navigating through Old Delhi's maze- hitting some of the tastiest spots with my guide. And yet my experience well and beyond that. True, I did get a taste of the best eats but I also got a taste of their culture, their beliefs, their everyday way of life. We'be probably hit at least 10 spots that offered delicious recipes that have been passed on for generations (one was on its 6th). My favorites were the Parantha, Pani Puri, Lassi, and the Sweet Milk Curd. I was the only one in the tour that day and so some servings were big. I'm also happy that I was able to go inside the Sikh temple and have a glimpse of the famous 24 hour soup kitchen they have. Lastly, I appreciate that they also provided bottled water to quench my thrist while touring about. About the guide: I loved how my guide Gejandra or Chintu was just overflowing with historic knowledge, sharing tidbits every now and then that made the tour even more interesting. He was patient, courteous, and all around pleasant. He would even assist you during chaotic bottlenecks within the market and wait for you when you find something nice to buy. I got lost on my way to the meetuo point and he was nice enough to meet me where I was at. And oh, did I mention he can also speak fluent French? Impressive, if I must say! All in all, I am extra satisfied with my Chef's Tour New Delhi and would definitely recommend it as a must when in India. 5 stars for comprehensiveness, guide knowledge and service, and overall depth of the tour. Tip: The meet up spot can be tricky especially if you're coming elsewhere around the area since the place is too huge and getting lost is so easy. So best way to get there is through the metro/subway because the meet up point is actually a station. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as well as loose change for small trinkets you may want to buy along the way.

A Chef’s Tour Old Delhi Food Walk was a genuinely enriching experience. I’m a Delhi local and yet felt like a tourist, discovering new facts and interesting places in my hometown. Gajendra, our host, had intimate knowledge about all the winding streets of Old Delhi. He went about the walk talking not just about the food that we tried, but also about the historical importance of Old Delhi. The walk consists of a good number of eating places where I got to sample, to my heart’s content, delicacies like jalebis, kachori, tea, butter masala Paneer, and Lassi. The entire walk took about 4 hours, which means there’s enough time in between the places for the food to digest. The trick though is to eat a little at every stop and save some space for the more prominent options like paranthas at the famous Paranthe Wali Gali. There is a bit of walking around, but it is not at all strenuous. Although I was alone on the walk, Gajendra allowed me to take my time at every place. There was no rush. Moreover, he was more than accommodating with my frequent stops to take photos. He even doubled as a hand model for me at places 😀 Gajendra also took me to a couple of viewpoints which I won’t talk about here lest it will spoil the surprise. But they are totally worth it! A Chef’s Tour Old Delhi Food Walk works on two levels. For a newcomer who wants to experience Indian street food, this is the best way to go about it. For someone like me, who is aware of the different local foods, the walk was an excellent opportunity to indulge in local dishes from the iconic places of Old Delhi that one should try at least once in their lifetime.
