- marcFrance45 contributionsIndia GateIt was awesome time visiting India Entryway, New Delhi with all my old buddies. Not in that frame of mind to return back from the spot.. Remaining there entire day was so great.. It's actually a noteworthy day.. The spot is so great. Inside not permitted because of safety reasons. In any case, the view from outside is truly astonishing..Visited March 2023Written 12 April 2023
- Shehran ZDhaka City, Bangladesh6 contributionsBeautiful StructureIndia gate is one of the best monuments I've seen in Delhi. We went to the India Gate at night, so we could experience the night life of Delhi. India Gate wears beautiful colors at night and during this time you can enjoy a wide varieties of street foods. Its free to enter any time. But if anyone wants suggestion from me, I'll tell him or her to visit it durin night time, after 7 pm. But it is safe to return from the place before 8.30 pm. Its a must try place in India.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 June 2023

You have the arch itself, and then beyond is the war memorial and beyond that is the memorial to those who died in the Indo -Pakistani conflict. Everything makes a tight visual unit and is impressive. There is a parking lot close by for convenience.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 4 November 2023

- Ron S1 contributionHotel Taj Mahal -- A class actHotel Taj Mahal in Delhi was our first stay among any Taj property. The hotel was built in 1978. The structure and decoration of the hotel really captures the essence of the Mughal era archirecture and design. The grand intricate design that adorns the dome shaped arches at the hotel lobby and its white marbel structure will certainly export you to a time when such grandeur was commonplace during Emperor's time. The quality of room service was impeccable. The service crew was courteous, kind and dedicated. Specifically, I was impressed by the service team led by Reema and Kunal who were attentending to our needs during our stay. I was truly touched by their attentiion to details that made our stay a luxurious and memorable one. Finally, I could have gone to any other top hotels of international repute in Delhi, but nothing would come close to Taj Mahal if you want to experience the world class Indian hospitality that infuses the grandeur of Mughal time. I cannot wait to come back to Taj Mahal again.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2023
- stevebintleyBedford, United Kingdom7,051 contributionsImpressive and well kept areaAn impressive landmark in the centre of some really well kept gardens. It feels like a refuge from the busy city centre and seeing it lit up on certain evenings even more so impressive. There’s plenty of spots where you can jump out of a taxi and wander round and seeing it from different angles worth it. It’s understandable why it’s the famous landmark in the city.Visited November 2023Travelled on businessWritten 23 December 2023
- Lauren B26 contributionsLots of scammers, western tourists be careful. Monument is massive and very nice park area once you're in there. Was nice to see such an iconic place and got some nice photos. Was a little confusing how to get over to the area from where our tuk tuk dropped us off. Lots of scammers here approaching western tourists so be careful. We got stopped numerous times for photos with locals here and just said no and walked off by the end as we just wanted to enjoy ourselves and see the monument. Very busy area. Good to get in and get out. Be firm with tuk tuk drivers here, ours agreed to 200 rupee to our hotel then tried to get us to pay 400 (200 each) when we got to hotel, just pay the 200 and walk off.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 January 2024

I was there on Xmas day so it was packed and many people asked me to take photos with them, which eventually made the experience better. If it was only for the gate it's ok. This is a memorial honouring those who fell in the service of India as well as Indian soldiers who fought as colonial troops of the British Empire. Designed in the style of a Romanesque triumphal arch, the structure is rectangular and has four arches, one on each side. You can also get a straight line view of the canopy and the National War Memorial of India from the western side of this memorial which makes for a beautiful vista

Worth a quick stop for sure to look, and take a photograph. An archway standing as a tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country, India Gate is one of the landmarks of Delhi.

The foundation stone of India Gate was laid by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught in 1921 and it was designed by Edwin Lutyens. The memorial was dedicated to the nation 10 years later by the then Viceroy Lord Irwin. Another memorial, Amar Jawan Jyoti, was added much later after India gained independence. The eternal flame beneath the arch burns day and night to remind the nation of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the India-Pakistan war of December 1971.

I agree with Badasaab's answer. I don't know where you're coming from, but I thought I read that India is not issuing Visas right now. Better check that. And if you are local, I would not advise on travelling right now. Everyone in the world is staying put to try and contain the virus.

Hi ive never had a problem . Stick to main streets, dont go down alkey ways and definitely Dont go out at night on your own , use a taxi from hotel if you are unsure ...
Jyoti Mahal and surrounding area is ok if you dont mind being steeped in it but if you prefer a bit more sedate look around Connaught Square area.
Radisson Blu out at Dwarka Sector is good with rooftop pool and easy accessible by metro from airport and other attractions.
Delhi Metro is brilliant, safe and very user friendly.
