We were so much attracted to the photos of summerhill and hence we went there.. we were asking the native people where is the tourist attractions here in summerhill, they replies this is summer hill and there is no such spots here... we showed them the photos of ice covered summer hill and they replied "this is not the spot, for this you have to travel around 8-9 kms.. moreover now its not covered with snow.. its only in december january "

If its scenic beauty that you are looking for then this is the place to be. Otherwise there is not much else to do over here. It also hosts the Shimla University and you feel like you are in college again.

Most of the visitors to Shimla skip going to Summer hill, and in fact there aren't much reasons to visits too. It primarily host HP university's huge campus, otherwise there is not much to cherish about.

Summer Hill in Shimla has been a place that has always fascinated me by its beautific charm. The place is densely covered by cedars & pines and provides a calm & idyllic surroundings. Two places of interests are there- India Institute of Advance Studies and Himachal University. It has a cute railway station too. One could go on foot from Shimla to Summer Hill (about one hour) to enjoy the best parts of this place.

Located about 5km from Shimla, it is a very picturesque setting and also one of the stops on the Kalka - Shimla railway. It sits on one of the seven hills that comprise Shimla and offers wonderful views of the foothills and the valleys. A half hour here was certainly not enough time to enjoy the many attractions on offer.

Summer Hill is one of the greenest, cleanest and safe neighborhoods of Shimla town. I've spent close to 3 decades here because this is home. Lately, a lot of nature trails, resorts and camping options have sprung up here. So I recommend you experience them. Summer Hill is well connected by road as well as train.

I want to visit Summer Hill, but I don't see any accommodation available. Where can I stay? I am a senior citizen, so nothing with too many stairs.
