Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was amazing staying near the dam and enjoying the greenery and backwater. The temperature was very hot in the afternoon and by evening it will be cool. For food, we need to travel 8kms for good restaurants if you want to experience mess food it is amazing near dam no need to travel far both veg and non-veg.

This is a beautiful dam that supplies irrigation water to the region. This is a perfect place for one day outing. If you are visiting Nagargole national park, you can plan for a visit to kabini dam. There are also wonderful resorts surronding the place.

The dam, which supplies irrigation water to the region, is vital to the state farming , etc. But it also has created a wonderful wildlife refuge at Nagarhole national park which is home to a variety of game including tigers and leopards, both of which can be seen relatively easily

Kabini dam is always in the top 10 places for us when we plan for a small tour from Mysore. the dam is around 70kms from Mysore and it takes 1 hour from Mysore in Car. one will get to see lot of paddy fields and full of green belt and small villages during journey. The dam is quite big and the storage of water is too high. one should not miss to visit backwaters of the dam which is a great place to relax n play in water.. (Caution: this place is known to have crocodiles in it).

We had been to Kabini for a one day hang out from Mysore. The road was top-notch - single lane but broad, clean, low traffic and scenic. The dam is a very beautiful structure about 2 kms long. Unfortunately the guards did not allow us to take the car inside so we parked it outside and walked a kilometer to enjoy its beauty. I really don't know why such a beautiful place is maintained so pathetically. It has almost all qualities to become a great traveler's spot but sadly orphaned out.

A little further to the dam there is a spot where there is bridge over the Kabini river. You will see the locals washing their clothes there. We found it to be a nice spot to wet our feet and play in the water for a while.

There are absolutely no restaurants in the vicinity, no secure place to park your cars for a long time and hardly any sign boards to guide you. So the next time you are planning to visit Kabini be prepared, do your homework, take food and water along and exit the place before 3 in the afternoon.

We visited Kabini dam in 2006 while returning from Kerala to Bangalore, via the Rajiv Gandhi National Park. It is one of the only dams in Karnataka here the water level is almost always brim full throughout the year. Dam is remarkable.

Bad thing is-they may not let you take photos there.
