first up all at the main entrance gate ticket counter was closed during working hours.ticket counter employee went to eat lunch during working hours when i askes to watchman he said. watchman was also rude with behaviour. management seems no control over such employee. i guaranteed this employee recruited through reference not by merit. these emplyee doesnt have vaue for job they keep visitors on waiting. actually nehru science center management itself seems lazy and fool.
oddessy show watchman was very rude he insulted me with shouting when i asked him for show exact location. this incident was taken placed on 5 th oct 2022 you can check video recording at nehru center at around 12 pm

Loads of knowledge presented in an entertaining manner. Kids just love this place, one can spend whole day here. If you want to watch all shows etc. then plan it well at start of the day. Tips to overcome drawbacks - 1) it gets crowded ins second half especially during holidays, so be there early 2) washrooms are decent overall but the one near canteen is best 3) food here is not great, better to bring something and eat in the open space provided for doing so.

Nice place to visit with family specially for the children. Here there's 3 types of show other than the scientific corner like sound, light, machine, photography and many other. It is 4 to 5 hours taking place even more time when childrens are science interested.

Science Center is very useful having Science Park, Science Centre, Science Odyssey,Science Park Auditorium, Library, Exhibitions,Picnic areas etc being utilised by many especially children being arranged by Schools and Colleges as part of study programmes. Shows were availble. The employees needed to be more helpful and diligent.

Nehru Science Centre is located in Worli area of Mumbai and near to Mahalakshmi temple. The parent organization of Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai is NCSM-National Council of Science Museums. NCSM has total 25 Science Cetres and/or Museums in India. This is a great place in Mumbai to spare your children to learn & experiment with science for one full day along with movie shows. Nehru Science Centre also has the facilities of Library, Conference Room and Auditorium. There is also one stall inside the NSC building, where one can go through and buy the varieties of books, toys & many other things on scientific experiments, which will surely develop scientific attitude of the children or students and even elders. The whole building has its unique architecture and design for various high quality science exhibits on different themes to develop scientific attitude & general awareness in public. The main attractions of this Science Centre are various interactive science exhibits on energy, sound, kinematics, mechanics, transports etc. installed in the different galleries and science-park. There are great opportunities for the students for making hands on experience to explore science on different themes. If someone do not have any attitude to science then this centre is great for their general awareness on science.
But I think, if some persons would there at least one in each section of the galleries for demonstrating these high quality science exhibits to the visitors then it would be best for the general public as well as the NSC. Because it’s a fact that some of the visitors do not have any knowledge about how to use or they understand the exhibits. Some of the visitors were just wandering here and there. The way, some of the general visitors were trying to understand or doing the experiments, it was hurting me. It looks that they will definitely damage the buttons/knobs of the experiments within few minutes.
Some of the list of great activities for general public, students & teachers conducted by Nehru Science Centre are as follows:
1. Daily shows (3-D, Science Odyssey, Human Anatomy, Taramandal)
2. Science shows
3. Science Demonstration Lectures
4. Sky Observation Programme
5. Film Festival
6. Popular Science Lectures
7. Workshop for school students
8. Teachers' Training Programme
9. Science Fair
10. Science Seminar
11. Science Drama
Watching a 3-D science show would be a great exciting for all ages in Nehru Science Centre. 3-D science show is conducted at an hour gap and you have to pay Rs.25 per head, which is not included in your entrance fees. For the Odyssey show, ticket charges is Rs.75 per person and show timing is 11.00 am, 1.00 pm, 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Duration of the show is 45 minutes. This is a great place to spend time for the children as well as elders.
There is also Parking space available inside the boundary of Nehru Science Centre.

A center described as a nurturing spot for young minds - wanting to mould them into a scientific spirit but effectively ending up gathering mold.
I'd been here in 1996 as part of an educational tour. Had a guide who explained the workings of the displays. Got me excited enough in Science. I thought the same would be applicable to my next generation and visited it with my kids. And was sorely disappointed.
THE PLACE AND THE ACTIVITY -
The Science Center is centrally located in Mumbai City. Very near the Four Seasons Hotel. A sprawling area with ample car parking (Rs. 20/- for a 4 wheeler). There is a nominal entry fee of Rs. 25/- per head (2yrs and above) + Rs. 50/- for an IMAX documentary show. Combined ticket available for Rs. 65/-.
You can get your own food and water. Highly recommended.
There are a lot of departments inside the Science Center. e.g. Aerospace, Nuclear science, Geology, Pre-historic era, Old technology, Physics, Light, Sound, Vision. Displays, dioramas, button operated machines dot all the floors. These are spread over 4 floors in two buildings. The IMAX show (called the Science Odyssey) has fixed timings and you need to be there 15 mins prior to get the best seats (Last rows to mid).
There is a garden in the front of the buildings that have many experiments built in - Echo tube, Pulleys and lever demos, Polarised glasses, etc.
The displays and sets all have information / explanation tabs set next to it. Reading is recommended. Especially for the ones that intrigue you. Explanation is in simple language. Only the Nuclear center on the top floor is air conditioned. But then the explanations here are really complex and needs a basic degree in Science to comprehend.
There is a basic canteen dishing out vegetarian lunch (Thalis, noodles, fried rice, pulao, pav bhaji etc.) A couple of ice cream/cold drink stalls dot the campus. WARNING - Be ready to shell out more than the MRP for all packaged stuff. No complaint books available. And the folks manning the counter actually believe that they are entitled to do this. The food is of a shady variety (Chocobar is actually the company producing the icecreams, bottled water by a company named O2) - MRP Rs. 15 sold at Rs. 20. Take it or leave it.
This place is on the itinerary of many City tour operators. So batch wise bus loads of people jump out, run around, and disappear. Only to be replaced by the next one. Most of them only run from display to display, pressing buttons, turning wheels, shouting out loud to their group members. And then hitting and cursing the displays that don't work.
BEST LIKED AND LEAST LIKED -
Best liked -
The feeble attempt at igniting young peoples minds.
Least liked -
1. The overall unkempt condition of what could be a very great Science center. Starting from the animal farm in the front, to the garden experiments, to the health of the displays.
2. The RAMPANT and undisguised LOOTING going on the name of food. A government controlled and run center violating the central governments rules on food pricing.
3. The condition of the wash rooms. Marginally better than the ones you find in the railway stations.
4. The many non working displays. Some of the more moronic displays - e.g. the display on computers has a lot of older models like the Punch card reader machine. Just because they are old and outdated is no reason for them to be covered in dust.
5. The lack of trained guides to explain what is the basis of the experiments. Or what causes it to do what it does.
6. The lack of good quality fans to circulate air inside the rooms. You know its gets hot in Mumbai. You know there is a large footfall in the center daily. All it takes is implementation of a customer centric focus. Heck I've seen better ventilation in larger exhibition tents.
WHAT TO BRING
1. Home cooked or parceled food and water. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
2. Cameras to capture your memories.
3. Walking shoes as the center is spread over 4 floors in two buildings and a garden center.
4. Light cotton clothing as you will end up sweating bad.
5. Reach before 11 AM to be able to leave by 4 PM. You can beat the traffic home.
All in all, this should be an all day visit. If you schedule in all the shows that are available here, it could take you about 6 hours totally.

Nehru Science centre is located in the heart of Mumbai near Worli.
The centre offers an array of scientific experiments, observations. play and learn tools for children and adults alike. The touch, view, operate, feel functional exhibits and the notes guide the users (especially children) through the various aspects of science. Rather than learning science via text book, this method helps the kids learn faster.
They also conduct hourly "magic" shows where-in day to day science phenomenon are explained by using "magic". The staff is polite and well versed.
They also have a mini 3D theater and a dome shaped mega theater for an "in the movie" experience.
Definite visit destination for one and all.

I was all excited to take my young ones for some exhilarating science phenomenon. However, badly kept devices, ill maintained facilities, unruly crowd and no aircon kept me guessing why did I ever thought of coming here. Half the people were just wandering there, not knowing the importance.
Must say Delhi science centre is so much better.
If you value your little time, spare yourselves.

We landed up today, Thursday, 29 Dec 2011, at around 3 pm the sign on the notice board said, all tickets sold out...all shows !!, What a disappointment !! As stated on the ticket window, you can book 7 days in advance, with nothing else to do , we marched away. I am not sure how to rate it but i will give it another try soon, this time with tickets purchased well in advance.

We went for half a day and saw less than half of the museum and did not even enter the Science Odyssey Building. So we definitely need to go again. There are many interesting exhibits here. Most of the staff is not very knowledgeable about the place. What I would suggest is to get there early so that you aren't in any rush and have time to figure things out yourself. If possible, decide ahead of time whether you would like to see the museum only or the Odyssey as well. We didn't see the latter so I cannot comment.
Secondly, at the museum there is a "3D show" as well as a "mini-planetarium." You can read the descriptions on the website. Don't expect the staff at the ticket counter to tell you much about these things.
The 3-D show had 2 parts - the first part was weird and the second part was a trip through the blood vessels of the body - reasonably interesting. The whole thing is 20 minutes and cost Rs. 20 so if your kids are itching to see something in 3D it might fill the bill.
Now on to the mini planetarium. At first you will have no idea where this is, in spite of sign boards showing the way. That is because it is inflatable! In between shows they let out the air so all you see is a gray cloth draped on top of some equipment. When the show is about to begin they turn on a fan and up it goes. They take your ticket and have you crawl in through a tunnel and sit on a mat to watch the show above. I lay down for part of the time and noticed another kid doing the same.
I have to say this is the best experience I have ever had in a planetarium. First and foremost, the presenter was a live person. She was enthusiastic, asked questions as she went along, kept all of us engaged. One imagines she adjusts her presentation according to the audience. It was like our own private show. Secondly, did I mention we sat down on a rug - no chairs. So rather than craning our necks, we could turn ourselves around and see any part of the dome-shaped screen around us.
In the museum itself, there are several floors with displays and activities on various topics. There are some unique and some usual exhibits - kids and adults will certainly find something interesting. We couldn't see all of it, so we will surely be going back.
