You need an armoured car to go through this stretch of road. Buses, cars, scooters, motorcycles, bicycles etc clog the road & take U-turns as & when they want obstructing the whole traffic. Hawkers clog the footpaths & attempt to fleece you. Tourists, sorry, there is no space left for you !!!

Wednesday 1st March and we visited Colaba, an area in Old Mumbai, where this Causeway is a feature.
This is a bustling busy covered pavement area which has shops lining one side and market stall on the other. It stretches along Shahid Bhagat Singh Road.
The stalls are laden with jewellery, all sorts of clothing, sunglasses, toys, baseball hats, perfume and so much more
The shops tended to sell more better quality goods than the street stalls. Which include silks, fabrics, tailor-made Indian clothing and almost everything else you can think of.
Along the way we were stopped a couple of times and offered a handful of pills to make us happy, which we declined.
Another feature of the Causeway is that it is home to the famous Leopolds Cafe, which we also visited.
A word of advice, do keep your valuables, purses, wallets and phones in a safe place, due to the narrowness of the Causeway and the number of people packed in, it is a magnet for pickpockets.

Located near regal cinemas this place is 15 min walk from the Churchgate station. A must visit place if you love street shopping. All accessories and clothes will be with great range but you need to have great bargaining skills

I really loved the old architecture here and so many sneaky but fantastic cafe's to explore. Got my first Rum and Coke in India in one little bar here. If you like older, less modern surrounds, you'll like this area.

The causeway just really busy with newer shops as well as a street market and plenty of restaurants. It is quite an experience since the place is very packed with stalls on either side of the footpath, so pedestrians have a narrow path to go in either direction. The road is quite busy, but some people were walking on the street side, but you do lose the experience.
The stalls sell a variety of items like clothes and accessories to pans and fruit. The shops are also accessible if you're able to get through the crowds to the store entrances.
There are plenty of things to experience around here and worth a visit if you're in the area, particularly if you have come from the Gateway of India.

A nice walk and plenty to buy -- watch out for beggars and everybody is asking for money, mother and child, small child, even shop owners from connecting streets are looking to lure you over to their shops ... We were wanting to buy specific items (toys and jewelry) - found beautiful silver elephant pendant earrings for pierced ears. Also bought some crystals and embroidery. Long walk along the footpath, in the heat but sheltered from direct sun. I was also looking for a 'muscle' shirt... did not find.

The Colaba Causeway is a major street in Colaba and historic area of Mumbai. Lots of historic buildings and shopping (some very expensive) to be had in this area. The area is pretty touristy and therefore pretty safe to walk around, day or night.

About 20 years ago I first tarted staying here.. today things have changed but still the old magic remains... easy to stroll down for a cup of tea or a light snack in the jostling crowd..walk down to the bay area and see the unlimited expanse of the sea near the Taj and Gateway.. or shop on the streets or the best of stores..its all there

It virtually starts from Regal Cinema & extends for about 2-3 kms. Need to bargain hard with the street side vendors to get a good deal. Food lovers will enjoy a variety of items ranging from Mughlai food in the famous Delhi darbar to the very famous Leopold Cafe. Just walking distance is the famous Gateway of India & Taj Mahal hotels. Also nearby vicinity is the Musuem. Few of ull would be interested to buy Antique high end jewellery

The easiest way from Bandra is to take the train from. Bandra station to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus . Then you walk towards the south to Colaba Causeway taking Dr Dadabhai Naoroji road . This is a nice shopping walk if after 11ham as you will meet a lot of street vendors along this road . Quite interesting and reasonable street shopping. At some time take the Mahatma Gandhi road near Flora Fountain.Nice building architecture in a Gothic style can be seen around. You will reach Jehangir Art Gallery and keep heading south till you reach Wellington fountain. A huge road junction . You will need to cross the roads and head towards Cafe Mondegar. At Cafe Mondegar, you are at the beginning of Colaba Causeway, the shopping attraction of the area. Another option from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is to take a taxi but you will miss the contact with the nice people of Mumbai.
