Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hutatma Chowk is a public square in Mumbai, which was named in honour of the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement, which was a demand for the creation of a Maratha speaking state. Located in the square is the Hutatma Memorial Statue to commemorate the movement. The square is a popular and touristy spot as it’s close to all the main sights of Mumbai and also has the lovely Flora Fountain.
It’s worth stopping at this public square, it’s a very picturesque spot.

Most of these places are just a browse through the South Mumbai. Do try Samosa from the street vendor at the end of the Veer Nariman Road (Near Kitab Khana) and Homi Modi Street (Leading to the famous Bombay House) and tea or sugarcane juice.
It was knows as Flora Fountain until 1960. It was renamed in 1960 in memory those who were slain when police fired upon peaceful demonstration of the members of Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti, who lost their lives .
There is live flame 24/7 and a statue of a "Martyr with a Flame" next to Flora Fountain. Flora fountain is under renovation.

Hutatma Chowk –हुतात्मा (शहीद) चौक
A statue of a "Martyr with a Flame" stands. A socialist realist sculpture was erected as a martyrs’ memorial of 105 people of Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti who died in protests against plan to make Bombay into a City State after Independence in 1956. After popular unrest and street violence Mumbai has been made the capital of the new state of Maharashtra on May 1960. It is on the way VT to Gate way of India. By walk it takes 10 minutes to reach here from VT & Gateway of India.

The place has a great significance in life of every Maharashtrian. Then Congress government in 1960s wanted to keep Mumbai separate from Maharashtra but every Maharashtrian wanted Mumbai to be a part of Maharashtra and capital city of Maharashtra. Thus, 107 people lost their lives in this struggle. Names of all 107 people are written at the Chowk and the chowk also symbolises with the brutality of Congress Government.
This place is very spiritual for those who believe in humanity

Hutatma Chowk or Fountain as some people call, is amongst the busiest of cross roads not too far from Churchgate station and Oval maidan.
The colonial style architecture of the place adds to its appeal. Anybody going from VT station to busy South Mumbai office districts of Kalaghoda, Nariman Point or Colaba would need to pass through this place regularly.
To appreciate its beauty and historical significance, it is well worthwhile to leave your car and take a stroll to discover more about the place.

This is a aesthetically designed city square in the Fountain area of Fort in South Mumbai.
It is a busy road inter junction and while one often passes through the area during weekdays, it's a different feeling when one takes the time out and visits the place on a relaxed day.
Best explored on foot on a holiday
