    Beautiful heritage store
An utterly charming heritage jewellery store. The owner was extremely welcoming and patient while I chose a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings with my husband . Definitely an experience and so happy to have gotten a good souvenir to remember the beautiful pink city of Jaipur by.

The jewellery boutique to go while in Jaipur
We visited 5-7 jewellers when we were in Jaipur and this is definitely the one I would recommend. This is the oldest and best reputation jewellery in jaipur, no doubts. The owner is half Indian and half Italian. I had the pleasure to talk to him for a while and he showed my pictures explaining the story of his boutique as well as incredible jewellery pieces. I was blowed away. My wife ended up buying a jewel and the price seemed fair. We saw when we were there a very famous European businessmen, which, if needed, was the demonstration the reputation of the boutique was very very high

    Lovely shopping experience.
The Gem Palace is a great place to go if looking to purchase some interesting jewellery. It's Jaipur's icon shop for jewellery as it dates back to 1700's and has a very deep history. The shop is filled with a wonderful collection of antique jewellery and heirlooms . The only problem we found was the prices were in $US dollars which made it twice as much for us poor Aussies ! It certainly was nice to try on some exquisite pieces.

    Interesting
I had heard about the famous Gem Palace and was prepared to be blown away. There were some beautiful pieces but I was not overly impressed. I have seen exquisite jewelry in some of the jewelry stores in New Delhi. The service was pleasant and the history of the store/ owners is interesting.. Worth a curiosity visit.

We visited Gem Palace as the jewelry place to visit in Jaipur. They have a beautiful collection of vintage, antique jewelry to see. However the overall service is extremely poor and arrogant. We had to buy a particular item as they were the only store that had the piece ready to purchase but absolutely resented giving them the business.
Next time will ensure that we purchase elsewhere.
Horrible experience.

The service we received at The Gem Palace was by far the worst we experienced in Jaipur, where we found most shopkeepers to be patient, kind and helpful. This shop is on MI road, referred to by a few locals as the "high street" of Jaipur for jewelry. This seemed to be true as the jewelry we saw was more expensive and appeared to be more commercial than the unique pieces and good deals we found elsewhere.

My husband and I had come to Jaipur with the intention on buying a sapphire ring and we were prepared to spend quite a bit of money. When we walked into The Gem Palace we weren't acknowledged at all by the multiple staff members, let alone greeted, so we looked around ourselves and eventually found a case that held what appeared to be sapphire and/or tanzanite rings. We stood around while the staff members walked around and spoke to others for a few minutes. Finally we managed to flag down a man who had what sounded like an Italian accent and he begrudgingly graced us with his attention and took out a tray of rings at our request. I'm no expert, but I had done my fair share of research and asked him if some of the rings were Tanzanite (I really couldn't tell in that lighting and again am no expert). He obviously had no time for amateur questions and very rudely stated that some "obviously" were and others weren't. Now, we had been walking around all day and may not have been dressed in our Sunday best, but we had money to spend and were serious buyers. The snotty salesman couldn't get rid of us fast enough. After inquiring about a few rings prices we were underwhelmed with the style and shocked at the exorbitant prices compared to what we'd seen earlier that day. That coupled with the salesman having what seemed like zero desire to assist us with our purchase, we left empty handed. Luckily our tuk-tuk driver knew of a fantastic off-the-beaten-path shop with an incredible selection of jewelry, including sapphire rings. We were warmly welcomed and given prompt and personalized service by a wonderful father-son team and bought a gorgeous sapphire and diamond ring. We just received the appraisal back from our local Jeweler in the UK and it was worth 25% more than we paid, which was a huge savings (see my other reviews)!

If you're looking for high-value items I suggest you do your research on prices, read about the stones and metals and what to look for and watch out for, learn to use a loupe and don't be afraid to ask for one at the shop (or bring your own), and then shop around so you can make an educated decision before buying. We did and found the Gem Palace to be overpriced and the service terrible compared to other shops in Jaipur.

My wife and went there after reading about the place online but experience was extremely disappointing. We were there to make a purchase but the attitude of the staff was so bad and condescending towards us whereas it was so different to foreign nationals. For the first time in India we felt that way. Unless you are a foreigner or an Ambani I really don't think they will give you any importance. One instance was when there was a catalogue kept with jewellery and prices and it was being looked in to by a foreign national and after he went through it , I was going through it and one of the staff came and literally closed it shut right in my face and kept the book aside and looked at me with such disdain and with a look more like why this Indian come to waste our time.. extremely sad that we get treated like this in our own country.

The selection of jewellery on view was average and the attitude of the staff was snooty. We entered the store wanting to buy jewellery but we knew after a few minutes this was not going to be where we spent our money, The gentleman that greeted us - I guessed he was senior staff - made it clear he was barely interested, his attitude was unfriendly.
We did buy jewellery, but not from these people.

Recently I was on a Rajasthan road trip, and went to Gems Palace to check out jewellery items along with my wife. From entering the shop to its exit, one could actually feel the unwelcome behaviour of the staff/owner, however at no time they were disrespectful or rude. I believe they prefer catering to foreigners/elites and welcome them with warmth and smiles (as I saw with my own eyes), while normal indian citizens seems are just tolerated. In terms of collection, they have nice gems and gold jewellery items, however they are way overpriced. I would suggest, skip this place and instead try out shops at Johari Bazaar, which provide good rates and cumulatively have quite varied collection of jewellery items which can be customized to one needs.

We had read so much about this place as " the place " to buy jewelry in India. It was written up in the NY Times and has a NYC store. They have some interesting pieces but it is very expensive. We were in Jaipur over Devali. They and the place across the street were unfortunately the only 2 large stores open. Both were no bargain. Though Jaipur is supposed to be the place to shop we found better prices and nicer things in Udaipur. Look here but shop in Udaipiur.

What's funny about this place is that none of the tour guides want to take you there. Like ours, apparently they all complain about how it's overpriced for tourists and they can take you somewhere better where you get the same jewelry for a much lower price. It reminded me of the people in NY who always claim you can get exactly what they sell at Tiffanys, VCA, etc in the diamond district for a third the price. My girlfriend actually took our guide up on the offer and visited another jeweller with him but didn't like anything there and returned to this store.

If you have a little cash, and want some beautiful jewelry without the annoying stress of haggling and wondering if you're being ripped off by the quality of the gems, etc - this is clearly a great place to go in India. They have an extensive and beautiful selection and it would be hard to imagine not being able to find something for everyone. They also have workmen on site who can change a stone or make adjustments while you wait.

I bought my girlfriend beautiful drop Indian ruby earrings for her birthday for something over $300, and myself a beautiful ivory bakelite cuff bracelet with a cabochon African emerald in the center surrounded by a lovely pave diamond design for something like $1000. (Note they have a wide selection, so I could have bought a bakelite cuff for probably a few hundred dollars as well as a gem-encrusted one for tens of thousands of dollars!)

Yes, I was able to negotiate - but only about 20%. That said, I really don't have the patience for aggressive negotiations (the emotional haggling in particular is a big turn-off for me) and felt happy with my purchases and experience relative to the prices I paid. Our salesperson was a lovely Italian woman who had good taste and gave me helpful opinions - I never felt that she was upselling me or pushing me to buy anything.

This is THE place for the finest gemstone jewelry arguably in the world that has been making jewelry for the Mughal emperors and their courts. There are a few outlets in the US at Barney's, the Met museum and a new store in NYC but this is the main store. You enter from the side into a small sitting room and progress to dark, salon-like rooms with wooden, carved jewelry cases. If you're a serious buyer they turn the lights on in the cases and up in the shop. The attention to detail, the settings and the perfection of the gems is what distinguishes The Gem Palace from other jewelry shops. I was too buy shopping but my daughter reported the walls were covered in photos of visiting celebrities. You can spend a million dollars here or buy something special for a few hundred. Most jewelry is set in 18k gold but there is some 14k and silver as well. Go with the thought of buying yourself something special!

Visiting Jaipur with work and we visited this store. I had brought a ring with me from home to have a stone placed in it as I had lost it.
The owner quickly had one of his workers find me a suitable stone that would fit and off he went to have it set.
Whilst waiting for the ring to be set the owner showed me some uncut emeralds straight from the mines and had someone uncover his vintage cars out the back for me to view.
The group I was with had left the location, the owner of the store organised his driver take me back to the bazaar. Unbelievable and amazing.
The whole thing cost me $10 AUD, wonderful customer service. Well done.
