Pallikarnai marsh
Dec 2018 • Family
Estuary of Bay of Bengal and the inlets.

Migratory birds. Pelicans crane varieties. Also shrimp hatcheries.

Magnificent area parallel/perpendicular to the ECR strip.

Watch the Olive Ridleys and seaweeds.

Crocodile farm nearby. Enjoy lunch along the ecr.

You may have to park your vehicle along the road to catch sight of the avian beauties.

Enjoy

Bird watching
Nov 2018 • Solo
The Pallikaranai marsh reserve is a popular spot for watching birds like Flamingos, coot, munia, strokes, pelicans amongst others. The marsh lands also have crocodiles. Due to the perungudi dump yard and the Pallavaram radial road, the sanctuary is an eye sour and a pollution hub.

Pallikaranai and Karapakkam Marsh land Bird watching
Dec 2017 • Family
For bird lovers, one of the least known areas to host variety of migratory 🐦 s within Chennai. Best to visit between December through February...can see Painted Storks, Grey Pelicans, Egrets, variety of Ducks, Bee Eaters, Drangos, Ibis and many more... have your binoculars and telephoto lens ready. Stench of Pallikaranai garbage dump will bother you... better to go on the Karapakkam side for a nice and quiet view.

Great eco sytem
Jul 2018 • Solo
One can enjoy beautiful birds visiting this march lands. Its too big and beautiful. The nearby garbage field is a threat to this ecosystem and also the road is not well lit in some stretches making it not safe to walk around during dusk. The authorities should take necessary actions and also security watch tower should be deployed.

Totally being destroyed
Mar 2017 • Solo
Great marshlands - providing wow scenery for sunrises and sunsets is getting destroyed as they are becoming dumping yards for the city of Chennai -> Even with all these waste, one side looks so good and imagine, if it had been maintained well !

What a dump
Oct 2016 • Solo
I came here and walked the length of '200 feet road' the causeway cutting the marsh in half. There were a few birds of interest, but really this is not a nice place to come. It smells terrible. The water is filthy, there is traffic at all times of the day. Apart from that, there is nothing here.
In Chennai, go elsewhere for birdwatching, ideally further from the town centre.

Marsh land of Chennai
Sep 2016 • Solo
One of the biggest marsh land in the urban part of Chennai is the most sought of places for birds watching. This marshland is visited by numerous birds of Europe and Russia who migrate here from such far flung places and countries to make it their home during the harsh winter in those places. This is a wonder in Chennai. Wonderful place. But this wonderful marshland is fast vanishing making way for urbanization. We. Must save this marshland.
