The local market for local people.

The produce on sale gives an intriguing insight in to why the local population remain slim with a long life expectancy, i.e.fresh food, clean mountain air and daily mountain walks.

The Chowrasta is the busiest place in Darjeeling with activities like stage shows, pony rides, jogging or simply strolling around doing window shopping. It’s a big circular area with benches around for people to relax and enjoy the scenery. Lanes stretch out of this chowrasta have shops selling various items and you would also find lot of kiosks selling momos,... More

Darjeeling is a crowded touristy destination on a high altitude under the majestic himalayas. when we visited the weather was lovely but the skies had not yet cleared enough to get views of the himalayas. so we spent our time locally taking walks and getting bowled over by the beautiful and colourful flowers evident every where even in the small... From Chowrasta you can have a good view of Kanchenjunga. There are two temporary market i.e. Mal Market and Mahakal market. You get shawls, decorative items, scarves, sweaters. Bargaining can be done,
