The Chowrasta is Darjeeling’s popular commercial street. It is Surrounded by popular hotels and restaurants, curio shops, photo shops, book stores, roadside food stalls and countless vendors & hawkers selling artifacts, woolen cloths, balloons, bubble guns & toys along the street. Chowrasta is always crowded by tourists. Local bands playing music on the street. It is free from vehicular movements,... More

Nice place to sit and unwind after a busy day. No vehicles are allowed at this place. Lots of things to shop around, great temple to visit if you are interested or just sit and soak in the ever festive mood

Two places I would recommend: - The Oxford Book & Stationery shop, just in the square, has a great selection of travel books on Himalayan region and Asia in general. The selection on Tibet and Nepal... More

Its basically the heart of the town. From here on you can go ahead to all the various sight seeings all around. You have the car stand here as well from where you could hire a vehicle for your sight seeings or to go back to njp station as well.

I feel this place is overrated. Not clean. Prefer early morning time for a walk. Items in the market are too costly not up to the standard. The podium over there was dirty. locals and tourists to be blammed for not keeping clean
