Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Since we were staying right opposite Ava Art Gallery, I decided to visit it one afternoon. The gallery is a small one, though every one in Darjeeling knows about it. It is in a state of disrepair. There is an entry ticket of 2 rs.
The gallery is a treasure trove of beautiful embroidered paintings by Mrs Ava Devi. On first look, they appear to be oil paintings,
The gallery also houses oil paintings and a collection of old coins and notes from different countries.
One can well imagine the talent of the artist by looking at these masterpieces. The paintings are not for sale.

I didn't get anything special. If you are a nature lover, I wouldn't recommend you to visit here. It would be better if you pass your time on some others natural places. (August-2015)

Ava Art Gallery is situated on the main road entering Darjeeling town. The gallery showcases a collection of pieces of fantastic artwork of Late Ava Devi who was known as a genius of embroidery art.

The driver took us to the art gallery as part of tour itinerary. The art is splendid, particularly the ones by Ava Devi. But this is strictly for art lover's and if you are not one, then you might want to replace this with some other place beforehand

This is the only art gallery of its kind in Darjeeling which was jointly established in 1965 by Late Ava Devi who was known as a genius of embroidery art, and her husband Bhopal Rao Sett.
Inside, there is a permanent collection of sixty pieces of exquisite artwork of Ava Devi including water, oil and thread paintings. Worth mentioning are the two distinguished paintings in the gallery that one must not miss. One is called "Still Strong" and the other "Torture" that reflect Ava Devi's outstanding talent and skills in the field of artwork. They attracts connoisseurs from far and wide to this place and truly reflects the talent of the painter.
There is an admission fee of 2 Rupees. The gallery is open from 8 A.M -12 Noon; and again from 1- 5 pm. Photography is not permitted inside.
Located on the Hill Cart road on NH 55, the Ava Art Gallery can be easily reached by any means of transportation in the city.
Its a treasure house of artwork and embroidery which leaves one speechless & spellbound.

Located near kakjhora on the Hill Cart Road near Tenzing Norgays residence . This gallery was once famous for embroideries made by its namesake Ava. Now it is host to a variety of paintings made by local artists depicting mostly cliché d scenes with a yak and mount kanchenjaga in the background. The paintings are overpriced . This place is not worth a second visit.

Thought I should be visiting the only art gallery in town since ive been studying here for 3 years now. Finally got time to make it ON FOOT with my friend. It was an undeniably small, drab and dark place. I could make out how badly it was going through the attention deficiency. Locals should go and check it out. You can buy stuff too.

I believe I am in possession of an Ava Devi original thread painting. Who can I contact (email) to send a photo to authenticate? Thanks.
