Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sagar Island or Ganga Sagar is an island in the Ganges delta, lying on the Continental Shelf of Bay of Bengal around 110 kms south of Kolkata. Sagar Island is located on an island in the Sunderbans, Gangasagar offers the charms of an unspoilt beach on the estuary of the river Ganges. Regular buses and taxis are available from Kolkata bus stand i.e Babughat and Esplanade bus stand. You can also book Ola outstation cab, if you to return the same day.

The ride from Kolkata to Gangasagar is quite thrilling. First, board a bus or taxi to Kakdwip from Esplanade (100 km) to Harwood Point ( 3-4 hours) From here, cross the river Muriganga by ferry and reach Kachuberia. From Kachuberia, a bus service is there that takes you to Gangasagar (30km) within an hour.

Gangasagar offers acres of silver sand and clear blue sky, and the calm sea for visitors. Each year on Makar Sankranti (mid-January), large number of devotees from all over the nation, congregate at Gangasagar for a sacred dip at the convergence of the river Ganga and the Bay of Bengal. After the sacred dip, the pilgrims offer 'Puja' at the Kapil Muni Temple or Ashram.

There were many Dharamshalas and hotels available at a very reasonable price. Don’t think about any luxury accommodation there and basic food is always available. You can take a walk around the beach, visit Light house and famous Kapil Muni Ashram.

It is said that, in your lifetime, do visit the Ganga Sagar to experience the true spiritual experience.
