It's not really a museum, but it is cool collection, with stuff ranging from history pieces to mediavel weapons. Definitely, one of the best places in whole State to go, especially if you appreciate wandering around and see different things.

How come there are two Brennand attractions in Recife, people ask. Well, both places are close, but one of them is a local painter and sculptor's atelier, whereas this Institute is his cousin's, Ricardo Brennand, the collector. Ricardo Brennand has had a passion for collecting for all his life. The object of his collectionism changes with time, but the impulse... More

The institute consists of many rooms with many sorts of artworks and a beautiful garden. There are some religious piece, paintings from the time of Nassau and his crew in Pernambuco and many others depicting important Brazilian history. In the castle, one is going to find a huge collection of weapons. Just in the entrance, there's a very good restaurant.

The size of the collection at this museum was impressive. Huge variety of suits of armor, swords, daggers, pikes, and odd items such as "swiss army knives" with dozens of implements, sword guns, old clocks, paintings of nude women, and more. In a separate building there is a great collection of historical paintings and books, much from the 1600 and... More

Amazing museum built by an amazing man who spent his life gathering art, religious artifacts, tapestries, statues, paintings, and books from the earliest years of Brazil and especially Recife's history. A must see if you are in Recife.

We went on a package tour with the Officina Brenand and could have easily skipped that and spent all the time here. To be fair, modern art is not our thing and that was all the first stop was. This place showered is the private collection of amazing objects from one of the leading families in the area. He built... More

A little out of the way and hard to get to but, well worth it. This will take at least half the day.

A very interesting and varied museum/art gallery with an eclectic mix of exhibitions, art work, history, tapestries, maps and artefacts most of which relate to the north-east of Brazil and in particular Pernambuco. The version of Rodin's "The Thinker" (O Pensador) is excellent and a treat to get up close to. Some of the more modern art on display is... More
