- nikhil_sharma08New Delhi, India468 contributionsProbably the best beach in the entire Goa.During my recent trip, I stayed in North Goa and visited almost all the beaches of North Goa like Anjuna, Calangute, Baga, Vagator, Aguada & Sinquerim and undoubtedly Palolem was the best. I had to travel like 80kms (one way) to reach Palolem, but it was sorta worth it. It is certainly not the best beach I've ever seen, but it was way better than those overcrowded & dirty North Goa beaches like Baga and Calangute. If you are coming by a car, then finding a parking space is a bit of a problem. Other than that, it is good.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 April 2023
- Big Indian ToursKochi (Cochin), India292 contributionsPalolem BeachPalolem Beach is ideal for families and friends to enjoy together. The beach offers beautiful landscapes, with hills on one side and the sea on the other. There's a mangrove backwater where boating is possible. It's about a 2-hour drive from Panjim and easily accessible by road. There's ample parking space available for moderate crowds. The beach area has a variety of general stores and restaurants where visitors can find food and other essentials. A fully-fledged market is located nearby, providing additional shopping opportunities. There are special boat rides, to Butterfly Island, Honeymoon Beach, and Turtle Rock from here. either by booking a private ride or sharing with others. These rides provide the opportunity to see seagulls, and dolphins (morning ride) and explore the mangrove areas. The beach offers kayaking, boating and options for water activities.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 September 2023

Relax at one of the restaurants, use their loungers with umbrellas & towels. Just buy a drink/lunch & they will look after you. More peaceful than northern Goa. Fab food available tooVisited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 November 2023

This is quite simply the best beach i have been to! With a wide expanse of very fine sand it is lined with palm trees and beach huts housing multiple restaurants and bars. The beach slopes gently into the sea which is incredibly warm.
At night the beach tranforms as the restaurants put tables on the sand, have barbecues cooking freshly cooked fish and light fires to sit around.
This is a magical place...

Sadly this beach was a big let down, Firstly the beach is packed with boats, it's like a boat car park totally spoils the beach. Second it needs a good clean up, lots of litter and plastic every where. I would recommend Agonda 15 mins down the road so much better

We have been visiting Palolem for the last 15 years and it has changed so much since our first experience. What used to be an idyllic relaxing place with just a few tourists travelling through is now over-crowded with lots of tourists and families. The ambience was ruined by lots of tourists with children and there was litter thrown everywhere on the beach. It has lost it's charm and unfortunately we would not return again due to the amount of tourists going there.

This beach is what Juhu is to Mumbai and Calangute is to North Goa. If you’ve reached south Goa for peace and tranquility, never visit this beach. This beach has nothing apart from overcrowding of boating & Kayaking vendors. As compared to this, start your south goa expedition with Agonda beach, much larger with all facilities as that of Palolem. At Agonda you would get a sense of openness or the vastness and don’t feel clogged unlike the Palolem beach. The beach is not even clean as compared to other south goa beaches. Lot of local tourists flock this beach being the most famous & Popular. We too went to this beach first, considering the same to be the most famous of all the other beaches of south Goa, it’s like going to Taj Mahal first when you visit Agra or you go to Ghats on the Ganges when you go to Varanasi. But trust me, this is not worth your time. This don’t even have proper shacks where one can have some decent food. It was 26th January when we visited and was surprised that all the shops were selling liquor even being a dry day, with police standing right outside the shop, may be they have taken the tourism aspect a bit more seriously.

Hi, I've heard a lot about the fact, that most of the beaches in GOA are extremely dirty, with broken glass and litter everywhere, as people drink heavily there and its not safe also.
That bad opinions impacted seriously GOA in terms of tourists numbers (both domestic! And international), which declined seriously.
BUT in 2019 - at the end, special agency started to work and maintain clearance of beaches in order to improve GOA picture and react on serious tourists drop. (Karnataka Commercial and Industrial Pvt Ltd)
SO - WHAT is the situation in GOA now? Can you guys, who visited that part of India in Dec 2019, Jan, Feb 2020 tell me and share your experience?
I know its India, no doubt, but is it really so dirty as even official agencies admit it as real problem?

Please can you advise on the sea conditions at Palolem Beach. We have previously been to Baga and Candolim and the waves and current were so bad we were unable to swim. It was too dangerous. We like swimming. Please can anybody advise. Thanks in advance

We are currently here and have been able to swim everyday. The beach has professional lifeguards and you have shallow water as you walk in... it's a great swimming beach. That's why I come here.

Not any that I spotted, but there are lots of shacks around and u can visit any and use their washroom, but they expect u to order something. The one I visited was called Sameer Shack, the guy even gave me a towel when I asked.

I and my wife are visiting goa from 6th to 14th October and ur property looks impressive as we want to stay at palolem beach. Before I book, I wanted to confirm if a few beach shacks, restaurants etc will be open as the season would have still not peaked off? Also would the boats to butterfly beach be available at that time? Would it be possible to take late night walks on the beach or willl it get too dark and deserted?
