Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately our guide is not a guide but a driver. He dropped us in this great place and came to pick us after 2 hours. We had a hard time trying to ask about places and read some signage to understand. Later on, I came to know that what we saw was The Proclamation of Independence Memorial.

Fitting & appropriate that the proclamation of the independence of Malaysia happened on this very spot in this historic city!

This is a nicely-sequenced exhibit that suffers from the universal Malaysian museum problem of poor lighting. With a facelift, it could be excellent. The real star is a room full of political cartoons from the 1950s, which really put a fresh and humorous perspective on Malaysia's independence.

I suspect that the level of detail might be a bit much for foreign visitors who are completely fresh to the subject, but it's rewarding for Malaysians who know the basics already.

This is a memorial dedicated to remembering the moments of Malaya before independence. Nice place to remember and review our country's history. Air-conditioned and free entry. When I went, the place closed at around 4pm. Right opposite of A'Famosa and walking distance from the Mahkota Parade Mall. Recommended if you are a history lover.

The Proclamation Of Independence Memorial is actually a museum dedicated to the independence of Malaysia and the event leading up to it. The museum is laid out in chronological order starting from the first wave of European colonialism to the ending of World War II, followed by the movement to achieve independence from the British Empire. A large section is dedicated to the actual independence. A very informative museum, beautifully presented and free. You probably need to be a local tor political scientist to appreciate the information in such depth.

Just near to the Famosa fort, this building is a memorial of Malaysian independence as the historical independence statement of Malaysia from the British rule was declared here. Good to see and have a feel of freedom from British rule for the Malaysians.

It's a pretty grand and ornate memorial and befitting of Malaysia's independence. Good to see for a little while.

Better known as "Proclamation Of Independence Memorial." The museum was a former social club/meeting place of British Malaya. Britain control the area for much of the 18th through 20th century. Malaysia gained its independence in August 1957. Prior to its use by the British, the building used to be a Dutch colonial mansion. The museum is dedicated to taking us through Malaysian history, its culture and its bumpy road to independence
