Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This graveyard is at the foot of St Paul's Hill. Dutch as well as British were buried here. We stayed awhile and read the inscriptions on the tombstones. Some of the epitaphs left us feeling poignant.

This graveyard is at the bottom of the hill near St Paul's Church. It was used by the British as well as the Dutch and gives a glimpse into the history of these two colonies. We spent about 10 minutes here looking at the various gravestones.

Mixed reviews meant I really didn’t know what to expect but I’m glad I went. Interesting to see the mix of people buried there and their ages. This was best gleaned from the info board as the definition on the gravestones showed ageing and made many difficult to read.
Quite well maintained. Shame some locals seem to think it’s ok to park their scooters amongst the graves.

Found this really interesting especially when you look at the average age of the people buried here it's quite shocking.

This is right off the main thoroughfare with Dutch Square et al. I like the fact that it's rough. I certainly get the feeling of antiquity more purely from a setting like this.

I lingered awhile. I could sense the tremendous sense of sacrifice and the value of conquest here. I'm in awe of how truly brave and strong you would have had to have been to embark on such a journey in those days so very long ago. I don't think people today understand even something as simple as the meaning of darkness back then. Truly powerful.

Its marked as Heritage Site but yet its poorly maintained. The grass was not mowed. Need to go at least in a pair because its isolated though by the roadside and lonely

So basically I didn't visit this historical site, but my hotel was near and I passed it when I visit the Dutch red square. It was fine in the afternoon, but when you passed it in the night, raining and not a lot of people was seen, it was creepy as hell. It made me and my son running through the alley and this graveyard to my hotel, lol. What an experienced...

Not too far from the Dutch Square, the Dutch (British) graveyard was used as a burial site for Colonial military personnel including 5 Dutch and 33 British soldiers and their wives during the Naning War.
Now, it is overgrown and not kept tidy but a cool place to visit nonetheless.

I don't know why, but it's written there The Dutch Graveyard / Kubur Belanda. Why is it written here British Graveyard? Basically it's just a graveyard, you can read the history written on the board at the entrance. It's just right next to the alley to the St. Paul Hill.

Visited this Graveyard and the history as follows In 1829, the British ruler in Malacca demanded Daerah Naning to remit their taxes amounting to 10% of their total harvests, as tribute to Malacca. The Naning ruler, Datuk Dol Said turned down the request because he feels that the Naning district is not part of Melaka. The British wage a war against Naning in the year 1831. In 1832, the British launch a second attack on Naning with a much larger force. This time, Datuk Dol Said did not acquire help from his allies. Naning district was defeated and conquered, but Datuk Dol Said only surrender in 1834. He was given pension of RM100 every month until he passed away in 1849.

Although the British won the war, they suffered had many soldiers sacrificed in the battle. British Graveyard was erected by Department of Museums and Antiquities for British soldier, George Holdfold Walker, his horse and dog, sacrificed in the second Naning War in 1832.
