This is an amazing way to get beneath the surface of the city but in a fun, safe and relatively quick way. My main concern beforehand was safety. I needn't have worried. The bikes - drop bar, step over city bikes - are really stable. Shanghai is flat, so the cycling is really easy going. You go relatively slowly and... More

Last minute booking for half day tour - ended up being just myself - was fantastic. The guide was very knowledgeable and her English was excellent. Always felt safe - explored the old Shanghai and lots of parts of The French Concession. Bike was in good working order, even with a basket on front. They also provided a bottle of... More

Was not totally sure what to expect from the tour. Basically, many, many people in Shanghai ride bikes about town – to work etc., and most streets have dedicated bike lanes. The tour is conducted throughout town on these lanes. Initially, it was a bit intimidating, but in a few minutes, I got comfortable with the transit. FYI, Shanghai is... More

I booked a tour with CCT primarily to see the old Jewish section of Shanghai, as this was one of the few cities in the world to truly help refugees fleeing from Hitler. Another reason to love Shanghai. The tour turned out to be so much more than that admittedly interesting and moving part. Jen, my guide, was very charming,... More

Old Shanghai Tour: During the tour, we have seen very diverse locations, from the most famous ones until places where no europeans would dare to go alone. The guide was extremely pleasant and knowledgable. Also, Shanghai has a lot of bicycle path which makes the tour very pleasant. I warmly recommend this tour.

Delightful 1/2 day spent cycling around Shanghai with our guide Rose. She was informative and very helpful answering all our questions. Such a great way to feel the vibe of the city. I highly recommend this outing.

We are living in Shanghai and had a German visitor. To do something different we booked the halfday trip. It was really amazing for us to ride by bicycle through Shanghai and to bike to all most known places. It was really easy to go and we have seen a lot of real Shanghai live. The bikes were in good... We did the Shanghai Classic one day guided city tour and loved it all. Jen, our guide, was so kind and helpful, calm and knowledgeable, and spoke really good English. We went to so many places that we would never have discovered ourselves. Jen's instructions were clear and easy to follow at all times. The bikes were comfortable, lunch, which... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
Xintiandi
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
