After nearly a year and a half of renovation the Shanghai Children's Museum has re-opened finally re-opened. It sounds like it is similar to the previous layout but updated. There are about 4 learning areas - two on the first floor (on the sea and under the sea) and two upstairs (space and "cities"). There is also a cinema on... More

I was looking after a few young children and thought this would be a good rainy day activity. Don't bother. Seriously needs updating and maybe...cleaning? I am surprised that busloads of children still come to visit this place. It is very rundown.

the exhibitions are not impressive at all. Some are boring. The indoor playhouse for kids (with tree house at 2nd level) was fun for kids. The movie was good.

I usually feel as though if my children are enjoying something, then it is worth the time. However, I am not even sure if they had fun here. Yes, admission is free, so what am I complaining about, but it was not worth the trip out to this museum. It is safe to say we learned nothing here today!

This museumis quite nice. I was surprised that we did not had to pay any entrance fee at all,... just for the movie. We did not see the movie as my sin is only four years old. There is not so much to see in the museum and a lt of things are broken or quite dirty. But my son... More

I went there with my 2 years old daughter and her little friend. Nice place to go with little ones when it s too hot outside. My daughter especially liked the little fake supermarket, fake pet hospital and fake kitchen ! Most of the activities are for kids from 2 to 7 years old

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
