Many details on the history and development of the city. And a very impressive model of downtown Shanghai which is updated continuously. You need two hours for your visit, at least.

If you have time to kill, and want to use it for a quick walk around to check the evolution of Shanghai, this is a good place to start. Nothing amazing but the city model is quite cool

A visit to the Shanghai Urban Planning Museum let’s you see how Shanghai has developed over the years. And it is quite amazing. Worth your time. Not recommended for small children though.

Great museum which shows how Shanghai had developed over the years. Third floor has a huge model map of Shanghai that you can walk around. Well worth seeing. Would recommend.

Our guide had the tickets in advance and we went to the front of the line. I would buy in advance to avoid one line up.
