Nice exterior especially when lit up at night. Interior isn't too impressive. I really enjoyed sitting in the city square outside the Cathedral especially in the evening taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Interesting people watching.

We stayed in Alejuela our last night in Costa Rica. Enjoyed walking around the downtown area around the cathedral. After two weeks of enjoying nature in Costa Rica it was nice to experience a little bit of city life. We went late in the afternoon when shops were open and people were hanging out in the plaza around cathedral. There... More

In my mind this is what a sanctuary should look like. It is not ostentatious or gaudy like many churches. This one look to me like a place of worship and not a place to worship.

Beautiful church in the heart of the city square. It's open for services and you can go in and pray on your own.

Great cathedral with beautiful painted ceilings and nice architectural features. Visited on Saturday afternoon among a very active square. Wonderful town to visit.

Lovely place to spend some time with locals in prayers. Must see attraction in Alajuela, including local park and market.

This is a beautiful cathedral. Ignore the exterior. Its location which is deafening and congested does no justice to the peace that the interior brings. Ther are beautiful stained glass windows, my personal favorite being the one of Saints Peter And Paul on the left side. The cupola above the altar appears to have been constructed of wood, but it's... More

We enjoyed the Cathedral and the central square in general where people seemed to congregate to past the time of day with friends. Its a gentle place.

We enjoyed a few hours walking around Alajuela while we were between destinations. The Cathedral and central square were certain highlights. The Cathedral is open to the public and is as beautiful inside as it is out. Cut glass and frescos adorn the interior of the large airy church. Lovely, take your time to pay quiet respect to a masterpiece.
