True you have to adjust your mindset that this is an animal rescue place, not a theme park or fancy modern zoo. The admission fee funds their work and it is cheaper for locals because the average income in C.R. is a fraction of us tourists, it is so the locals can afford to have the experience! The place has... More

While visiting Zoo Ave with a 2 and a 6 year old girl and boy, the basic, simple but yet easy to follow layout of the property, made it easy for adults to follow and interpret the different species on display as well as the signage being user friendly. Grecia the Toucan with its man-made 4D beak is a must... More

This is an Animal Rescue Group that takes care of injured or abandoned animals that cannot go back into the wild. It's a little expensive but that is how they pay their employees, Dr's, feed the animals & take care of them. Well worth it even for Adults. Take your time, binoculars & enjoy. It's Costa Rica, everything is different... More

Went here because it is advertised everywhere, and wished we hadn't. Firstly the advertised entry price is for locals, foreign visitors have to may a fair bit more. Secondly there isn't much here, if you take away all the various monkeys and birds. Thirdly there is a lot of hype surrounding their sloth, but you can't see it, it is... More

This was a pretty place. Beautiful flora and fabulous animals. A nice place to take your visitors if you don't want to go all the way to the La Paz Waterfall gardens.

Zoo Ave has a really cool history and has certainly helped out a lot of animals. However, the price is pretty high, so I will not be visiting again. I do recommend checking out this place, but once is sufficient.

An interesting zoo in a beautiful setting. A nice place to enjoy nature and a colorful atmosphere. Nice place to spend a little time. Educational and informative. Take a leisurely stroll into nature. Calming and interesting.

All money collected from entry fees go back into the care and release if possible of the parrots and other animals back in to the wild...it is not a zoo,,,it is an animal refuge...well worth your time
