Driving around the winding roads of Lake Arenal is a great experience. Make sure you are not in hurry and you have plenty of time in hand to stop anywhere you want and spend time. There are numerous small places to eat along the way which will make your experience even better.

Great viewpoint of the volcano on a clear day. Stopped off 142 coming back from Arenal Volcano. There is a great viewpoint of the volcano on the left about 2 kilometers past the main boat ramp.

It's definitely worth spending a couple of days by this lake and checking out the volcano and discovering the surrounding hills. If you venture further away from the tourist trap areas around the lake, like we did then you will stumble upon little islands, beautiful birds and even an otter that swam nonchalantly past us.

On a sunny day it offers beautiful views of lake. We never saw the vulcano as there were lots of clouds. Still worthwhile trip

We took a 2 hour kayaking tour and it was worthwhile! The lake is just beautiful, surrounded by rain forrest. An interesting fact is that about 42% of the country's energy is produced in the lake's damn.

We took a boat trip across the lake and it was a lovely way to see the volcano and all the wildlife surrounding the area including monkeys and many species of birds. Is a large lake with beautiful views.

The lake is very large and certain areas are windswept. If you are into wind surfing, this for you. Various reataurants and hotels line the shores of this man made reservoir, offering views and decent fare. Fishing, boating and other water based recreation are available. I enjoyed sitting peacefully on one of the evevated bluffs around the shore, taking in... More
