This is a good place to stop to get an authentic Costa Rican meal (upstairs) as well as buy souvenirs for your return trip home. Outside, local artists paint items and ox-cart wheels. You can get a quick and free tour of the history of...More

This was a different kind of Costa Rican experience. We started our time here with the buffet- it was average.. rice, beans, platanos, salad. Then we went for a painting class. This was very fun, then men in charge were enjoying themselves, everyone in our...More

This is one of the best souvenir shops I've seen anywhere, and I travel a lot. The main display area is spacious, immaculately clean, very organized. Prices are in dollars and quite reasonable for the quality and selection of articles. The young owners give high attention...More

The oxcart tour was one of my favorite stops on our tour. The oxcarts are still made by hand with the use of water power, then beautifully hand painted to the buyers specs. The building is decorated by the artists with murals and gorgeous designs, worth...More

This was part of a combo tour with Doka and Grecia. It was very interesting to seeing how the oxcarts are made using the original methods. The tour was concise and interesting. There is of course the obligatory gift shop. It is huge. Oddly, for...More

The oxcart factory in Sarchi was one of our stops during our private tour, in Oct. 17, when our ship docked at the Port of Puntarenas in Costa Rica. This tour is no more than a stop at a large souvenir store with the work...More

This place is well off the beaten path. My wife insisted we find the "source" of all the souvenirs. She wanted to give her money to the people who actually make the items. Whether or not the majority is made here, we can attest that...More

This is a truly amazing place where to see first hand where Carretas are made. You can witness everything from wood carving to traditional painting and the visit is free. Although, the prices at the shop are NOT the best in town.
