Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a 9am tour, and struggled a bit to find the location. We were outside of the property, but a sign on the gate said no entry. Fortunately, one of the horse handlers ushered us in. It turned out Trip Advisor somehow informed Celia, our guide for the tour that we had booked 1pm (I’m not trying to sound shady or sarcastic, she showed us her confirmation - so maybe it was that we’d booked the night before and it got confused). Anyway, Celia was adorable, super apologetic, and arrived within 15 minutes of us calling to let her know we were there. It worked out brilliantly, as we got the chance to have a wander, and relax in the stunning garden of the property owned by one of the plantation owners. After coffee (obviously) we were introduced to our horses and Kalin (sp.), the horse handler who led us on the tour. We’re not horsey people, but it was a really nice walk (not the most comfortable, I’ll admit, but it would have been absolutely shattering to walk it on foot), and Celia is very knowledgeable, and the stories behind the community, its founders and how it works today are all very interesting. We never felt like there was a time limit, or we were being rushed to finish. There was a no pressure side trip to the small gift shop (we bought coffee and local chocolate). It honestly felt like a friend had showed us round where they work, and I was actually quite sad when we left.

Right from the start I knew this was going to be special. Denise, my contact for the tour options was very friendly and informative. We took the 4 hour horseback ride to the waterfall, through the farm and the coffee processing plant. Also visited the historic church in the property that is nearly 100 years old. CĂ©lia our guide was very friendly and knew a lot of the property, history, coffee process and was quick to share. We ended our tour at La Esperanza, the old hacienda house of the original owners for food and fantastic coffee. In the end the tour was so relaxed and easy going that it felt more like a group of friends sharing a evening at the farm. Highly recommended!!!

Thank you Daniel for your review and your interest in Aquiares :) You discovered our coffee in a coffee shop in San José and you came to meet us in Aquiares to learn about how we produce our coffee! Now I know you will think about your experience here when you will drink Aquiares coffee and I hope you will enjoy it! Do not hesitate to come back and we will do the cupping, and we also could go to pick coffee or roast some beans! It was a pleasure meeting you. Cualquier cosa, estoy para servirles. Saludos!

This was the best part of our vacation! We booked this tour last-minute, and towards the end -- we didn't know what to expect, but were blown away!! Andrew was incredible. He was helpful, kind, educated, and answered all the questions. He is a GEM! I cannot wait to go back and visit him and the town of Turrialba.

We did the full day tour with Andrew and I couldn't recommend it more to have a in depth understanding of the coffee process. Stunning location, good pace, great info and very friendly and knowledge tour guide. I initially thought it was a little expensive (priced at $100) but I really believe was worth it, and more! The food included was also wonderful. So if you get the chance, go for it. And make sure to take swimming stuff for the waterfall!

We really recommend this tour. We had the chance to be the only two persons within the group and had a more than 2 hours fantastic tour with Andrew. He started explaining the history of the region while putting Aquiares in this context. We had a short tour in the property and the plantation. We then moved to the industry and how the coffee is being processed, and finished with a tasting of natural and honey coffee from the farm.
Andrew is very knowledgeable on coffee topics and we could ask all the questions we had.

Very informative tour. The tour guide has a lot of knowledge of coffee making. We were astonished how many steps are necessary for getting a cup of coffee.

Sono stato ad aprile in Costa Rica. Se non ricordo male il tour caffè costava l’equivalente di 20 USD, c’è pure la variante a cavallo che costa poco più (mi pare 35usd) ma non vi fa visitare la fabbrica.
