Really good cave tour with two young kids, 7 and 10. Was worried how the 7 year old would take it and she baulked at the first tight squeeze, but after that she did all of the tricky bits (she was especially pleased to find...More
We did just about every touristy thing you can think of in La Fortuna and this was probably the highlight of our trip! It was an easy hour drive to the Venado Caves. We emailed ahead of time and told them we wanted a 9am...More
This was such a unique and fun experience - one of the best activities we did in Costa Rica. The caves are beautiful and natural there's a lot to explore inside. We booked the tour through our hotel with the company Ecoterra and our guide,...More
Firstly the route to get to the caves. We were self driving and wanted to be sure of the route so rang ahead. We worked out the route with the help of the guy on the phone and our hotel staff. There is a 'good...More
This was one of my favorite things I did in Costa Rica. It is off the radar from all the activities in La Fortuna, but the caving was so awesome. We drove ourselves and I warn it was a bumpy ride and we got a...More
Wonderful visit with very good guide who made us feel safe. Was there with 4 and 6 years old. Nice facilities with showers, restaurant and swimming pool. Walking up an underground river in a cave is pretty cool. We saw bats, spiders and crickets. There...More
Amazing off the beaten path experience in the La Fortuna especially with those with adventure seeking teens and pre teens wanting to do something other than the usual zip lining and hikes!!! Kids absolutely LOVED winding their way through waist height water and squeezing in...More
I was hesitant to do this with my husband and 12-year old son, but it was one of the best things we did in Costa Rica. Wasn't claustrophobic at all - and had a blast. Felt like an adventurer (and I'm a 50 year old...More
I’ve been to caves before where you walk and take photos of interesting formations. This is not that experience. At Venado Caves, you get to explore as if you were the first one going through the cave system. You will be walking through a stream...More

Henry, our guide, was very knowledgeable and pointed out really interesting information through the tour.
Definitely not for people who have claustrophobia, unfortunately for them because it is so exciting to go through the smaller tunnels and under the...More

HI, it depends on the company you are going with and the location from where you are going- the prices you mention are about the same we paid. The driving distance was about an hour, so if you are in a group of 3-4 people it might be a good idea to book a taxi to the caves (approx. 100USD both ways). You might like to call them first to avoid disappointment.
