About
A full-service yacht charter and sailing tour, we cater to small groups and families to provide an intimate and all-inclusive experience of Guanacaste's coastline. Seeing wildlife can never be guaranteed, but we often see dolphins, sea turtles, jumping manta rays and depending on season and luck, humpback whales! Depending on weather, we select the best spot for snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and exploring secluded coastline. An experienced guide will lead you through the waters to discover species of fish, sting rays, starfish and various marine life. While you're in the water, we're in the kitchen! We serve a delicious meal complete with snacks, fresh cut fruit, Matteo's fresh and famous guacamole, and refreshing drinks including water, juices, sodas, beer, wine, local spirits and Prosecco.

Eight of us did a morning 1/2 day cruise on 12/31/2020. I had done this type of trip a couple times before with other companies. What struck me as outstanding about this trip was the snorkeling. The place they took us was fantastic and the guide was super helpful pointing out blowfish and other creatures. The food was also very tasty and crew was great.
Would definitely do it again.

My husband, Father, brother in law and sister in law did a private cruise with Manta Ray and it was a lovely experience! From the start Matteo was very responsive, flexible and easy to work with in regards to booking, payment and transportation. Our captain and snorkel guide Emilio was amazing- he caught several fish by hand and let us gently hold and touch them! We got to touch a trigger fish, a puffer fish, a porcupine fish, sea urchin, crab and it was all incredible A very cool and unique snorkel experience with Emilio by our side. Jessica, our steward on board was very attentive and helpful and made a tasty “manta ray cocktail” that was light and refreshing along with a tasty lunch after we snorkeled. They sailed us back while the sun set and served us the most delicious and moist banana bread I’ve ever had! A wonderful, relaxing voyage!

We had an amazing time on the Manta Ray catamaran. We did the private sunset sail as a group of 7 adults and two children. There was plenty of room to move around or claim a space to chill out. Captain Emilio took us out snorkeling, pointing out puffer fish, sharks, and even dove down with our go pro and go some awesome video of sharks hiding amongst the coral. He was so attentive to our group, he noticed when my 78 old father was struggling and getting tired, and he immediately went into action and swam him back to the boat to relax. Jessica kept us fed and hydrated throughout the trip. The food was really great and fresh. She also was so attentive to my mom who can get sea sick, and we changed our course a bit to ensure the smoothest ride back.
One thing that surprised us all were the jumping devil rays, we enjoyed spotting them pop out of the water and flip around in the air.
I highly recommend this charter. I did a lot of research before our trip, and Manta Ray did not disappoint!

Wonderful day😎 We booked a full day for ten of us. We had high winds but the captain
maneuvered perfectly to not affect our day. Jessica and Phillipbo were great attending to our needs. The cocktails continued all day with snacks and lunch that did not disappoint. For an all day cruise maybe a little bit more food but all good otherwise. We could not have asked for more. Jessica’s play list was perfect for even the teenagers on board.

My husband and I went out on a full day with the mantaray crew. The bali catamaran is a amazing boat. The nicest boat I've ever experienced. Our captain was Urel and chef Philipo.
.They waited on us all day, explained sailing techniques to my husband and fed us wonderful snacks throughout the day on top of lunch and dinner. Our chef was professionally trained in Rome and showed in every dish.. We were able to go snorkeling and take in the breath taking views. They helped us set up transportation as well. We couldn't recommend them more.

We were on the Bali on Nov 14, 2023. There couldn’t have been a better crew - Jesus, Paulo, . They were so attentive and went beyond expectations. Drinks were great, boat experience was great, food was great. Top-notch experience. They spent extra time indulging us on the way back to the marina during sunset to circle back around to let the dolphins play with the boat. 6 out of 5!

Our family took the sunrise cruise and it was absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed snorkeling with Amilo. He was very knowledgeable and showed us all sorts of sea life and dove for the local oysters. Jessica served us a delicious lunch. They were very accommodating to our whole family including our granddaughter of 21/2 years. I highly recommend this cruise

We did an afternoon/sunset sail on the Grenadine Lady. There were 9 of us. Our crew was AMAZING! They made what was a very windy day a delightful afternoon & evening despite the choppy water and wind. Our captain found a nice spot tucked away from the wind so that we could enjoy the lily pad, SUPs, snorkeling and the secluded beach. The drinks were tasty and plentiful and Caroline prepared the most delicious and beautiful lunch (amazing guacamole!) for us. The service was top notch. We were passed appetizers before lunch and desert as the sun was setting - and our drinks were never empty! The boat is beautiful - but the sunset was spectacular! They even arranged for a driver to pick us all up at our villa's front door and take us back after. Don't hesitate to book - you will not regret!

This was our 3rd catamaran cruise on the Manta Ray for our family of 6! We love the private cruise and this time was extra special because we had our 8 month grandson. This was the first time coming during rainy season but our captain Emilio was awesome! The waves were a little rough with lots of thunder/lightening but he knew exactly were to take us especially with a baby onboard! They made our son’s bday extra special…Paolo (Emilio’s right hand man) was awesome with preparing drinks and food! They even had a “delicious” birthday cake!
The waters weren’t so clear but Emilio brought a puffer fish so we could see and touch, and pointed out a manta ray.
The Manta Ray catamaran is not the largest or newest vessel but we love that our crew have always been ticos and they are so open to all our questions. As long as we keep coming to Costa Rica, we do the sunset catamaran with our favorite ticos!

Our family of 5 adults booked a private charter with Manta Ray and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience, professionalism and arrangements.
The crew was very attentive to the things we wanted to do and see, the food was delicious and everything was extremely well organized.
We would highly recommend Manta Ray to anyone looking for an unforegetable experience.

What's the actual name of 'Honeymoon Beach'? That's what it was called on this trip but I can't find that on a map anywhere.

The real name of Honeymoon beach is "Playa Celeste". Locals call that beach honeymoon because many years ago a couple who had been walking along the path were forgotten on the beach and recovered the next day

Thank you for your question! We have many options for shade throughout the boat. Upon request, the crew can create a completely shaded area in the front by draping a piece of fabric over the jib line.

We ask guests to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to departure time to give us enough time to board the group and have a very brief orientation before the fun begins!

Yes, we will arrange to have you picked up right from your hotel or rental! The cost, however, is not included in your tour price.
We will coordinate your pick up time and provide price information via email. You may pay your driver directly upon pickup and we'll see you at the marina!

While transportation cost is not included in our pricing, we are more than happy to make any arrangements necessary for our guests, including round-trip transportation. Simply tell us where you're staying and we'll tell you when your group will be picked up!

Do you have to be a "swimmer" to go to the beach? I don't imagine I could snorkel, as I don't swim well, but would enjoy the beach combing.

We usually anchor very close to the beach, 20mtrs approx, so no I don't think you need to be a very good swimmer, and we can provide you noodles or life preserve if you want to get the beach in a comfort way.

We paid by the person, but we web through a middle man company hat included transportation from our lodging, so I don't even know what we paid for the captain, crew and boat, but it was worth it. Great trip, plenty of food and drinks and a great crew.
