Two types of tours to see sloths and learn about their diminishing rainforest habitat. Sorry, no direct contact with sloths, for their well-being and yours. "Buttercup Tour" requires no advance reservation; just arrive about 20 minutes before the top of the hour (8AM–2PM) to register. Duration about 2 hours. "Insider's Tour" is given twice daily and requires advance booking. This tour includes everything in the Buttercup Tour plus "behind-the-scenes" visits to the NICU, Slothpital, climbing area and more. Admission/donations collected directly support the sloths – their rescue, rehabilitation, wellness, research, housing and enrichments. Thank you for supporting the sloths with your tour!

I realize $30 is not cheap but this sylheti is not funded by the government. They do Rehab on several sloths a year and provide great Educational Services for children. The bonus is the little boat ride. We saw howler monkeys so that was a...More

Thank you, Lisa! Glad you enjoyed your canoe ride. Indeed, howler monkeys share the trees with the sloths and plenty of birds as well. We are fortunate to have this stretch of the Estrella River here so we can share it with guests like you....More

$30USD is just far far too much for what you get. It's just a 2 hour talk about sloths and you get to see about 10 injured sloths in their permanent resident's cages.More

Katie, we appreciate your feedback and sorry you were disappointed in the admission fee versus what your experience delivered. While some wildlife rescue centers are funded by outside sources, we are funded 100% by donations, including admission from educational tours, rooms at our Inn, proceeds...More

We visited this sanctuary three years ago and had to go back. Once again we did the insider's tour, which I highly recommend. It takes about four hours and you get to visit many sloths, do a lovely relaxed boat trip through the jungle, have...More

Jacqueline, thank you for your kind words and eloquent review. And thank you for the work you do in the States for wildlife rehab – a rewarding and sometimes heartbreaking job. ¡Pura vida!

This tour was well worth the visit! We stopped in on our way to Cahuita and thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the canoe ride and learned a lot about the sloths.

Wonderful tour and lots of great information given by the guide. A must see if you have love for the sloth or animals in general.

One of the reasons that we went to Costa Rica was to learn about and see the sloths. So we booked the insiders tour 5 months before we went, as we didn't want to be disappointed. The tour was really good and we learnt a...More

Emma, thank you for this review. We're sorry there was no vegan option for you. Except for guests who booked their Insider's Tours months ago, we are no longer serving a meal as part of the tour. This is due to a recommendation of MINAE,...More

We really enjoyed our trip to the Sanctuary. First a guy showed us some of the sloths and explained a lot. It was really interesting and entertaining. Afterwards there was a Kanu tour which was nice as well. We saw some monkeys and birds.

Thank you for your review – and for recommending to bring powdered goat milk :). We learned long ago that goat milk is the sole nutritious, digestible substitute for sloth mothers' milk for feeding orphaned/abandoned infant sloths. And your suggestion to visit our site is...More
