Our favorite beach in the area
This beach is inside the national park and faces away from the town. It’s a gorgeous little bay with white sand and gentle waves. We entered the park at 8am and headed straight to the beach. My kids (6&9) were over the wildlife tours by this point in our trip so we didn’t hire a guide, just walked the trail to the beach. It’s about a 20-30 min walk on your own but more like an hour to hour and a half with a guide. We arrive at the beach around 845 (bathroom breaks) and stayed till noon. We had the beach to ourselves till around 10am when tours from the 8am entry started arriving. It was lovely. There were white faced monkeys hanging out on the path that runs along the beach and we saw a howler or 2 along the beach path leading back to the entrance when we left. We brought water in our reusable bottles and fruit in a Tupperware our hotel provided us.

    Great beach
We took a swim after our morning guided hike. Water was warm and quite calm. Our guide warned us not to leave anything shiny out so as to avoid mischievous monkeys getting into our things. Lots of people there. Convenient showers, changing room, and restrooms.

    Espectacular beach!
One of my favorites beaches in Costa Rica! Manuela Antonio beach has so much to offer! Warm water, big waves, food, drinks, parasail, jet ski, banana boat (tube), horses, kayaks and I’m sure I’m forgetting some, or you can just relax and lay down while spotting monkeys, birds, crabs, iguanas, there are taxis right there at the main street, bus stop or bring your own car, you can go shopping, restaurantes and bar right there too, is better go during the day, the markets (clothes) leave at 5pm, we love our day time, we came back at night and didn’t find to much to do, in my opinion it’s a day time activity, enjoy it!

    Best beach in the world.
I’ve been to beaches in Greece, Brazil, Hawaii…. This is probably the top beach I’ve ever been. Warm water, perfect waves, natural flora, all sand…. Couldn’t get enough!

A beautiful beach, bring your gear on your park tour
What a lovely cove beach with sand a long way out and warm water. Not too crowded. A beautiful place to spend the day! Toward the edges there are rocks with black crabs and tidal pools. Watch the tide if you cross these to the beach on the other side.

Buy a week ahead during peak times
February is really busy. Book at least a week ahead if you want to go around without a guide. More expensive guided tickets are available at shorter notice. If you can bear crowds, the wildlife is amazing - so much to see. Other parks are cheaper and much less busy.

    Beautiful Beach
Beautiful beach and not over crowded. We took the inexpensive city bus from our hotel to the park, which removed the frustration of parking fees and traffic. We had a park reservation in advance. We didn’t know that you can’t bring plastic drink bottles into the park, so had to quickly drink those and put into recycle bin. I recommend bringing your own reusable drink bottle. We walked through the park for about 25 minutes to the beach. Pretty easy walk and saw Capuchine monkeys along the way, including one carrying a tiny baby on her back. There were a couple of monkeys trying to get into people’s belongings under the trees. Nearby people shooed them away.

    Beautiful beach
Very picturesque beach inside the national park so you do have to book and pay for park admission to access the beach. Manuel Antonio NP is one of the most popular parks in Costa Rica but numbers are capped with specific entrance times. Take the time to enjoy the trails - there’s plenty of wildlife to spot. DO NOT take any food, snacks or anything edible - it will be confiscated at the bag search on admission. There is a cafe and changing facilities before you reach the beach. Be careful of your belongings - the monkeys have yet to be told that visitors don’t have snacks in their bags anymore and will have a rummage given the chance!

    The perfect beach
Great beach, not too crowded with nice sand and services all around. We rented an umbrella and chairs from Glen, and it was fantastic. Included in the price were also paddle boards, which were fun. As the tide came up, we had to keep moving up. The beach was much smaller and high tide!

So one of the Costa Rican tours by caravan I booked I booked specifically because it included Manuel Antonio.

it was a bit disappointing. As we entered the park our guide took us to the beach, we didn't see much wildlife on the way in. Since later in the week I was spending 3 days at a beach resort I was looking to do some hiking. First trail I hike to a smaller beach, not used for swimming do to the undertow. When I went to walk further to where the overlook was, the trail was closed, this was in March. Found out later that I could have walked around a different way but signs were few and far between. I then walk down to do the cathedral trail which was also closed right at the beginning. I tried to walk a bit thru some of the other smaller trails between the entrance and the main beach but they tend to get clogged because if a guide stops to show his group something the boardwalks are narrow and tend to clog up.

If they didn't restrict attention I could imagine how it would be. The park seems to be pretty small and most of the people are concentrated in a small area of it.

A lot of it I do think is luck as several people on my tour who walked about 10 minutes after me saw a whole troop of monkeys.

A real paradise next to the national parc. It was full when we were there but still amazing. There is another beach inside the parc which was really beautiful but you do not have access only if you are a visitor of the parc. Nice people .

This is one of those beaches that makes your jaw drop. You take a nice hike through the jungle and then, suddenly, you go out on this wild, amazing, breathtaking beach. It's heaven on Earth.

Stayed at Coste Verde Hotel which was excellent and meant we could walk to the beach, the view of the bay from the hotel pool was stunning. There are a few good places to eat in Manuel Antonio but nothing special. The park is very very overcrowded compared to many others we went to like Corvacado (awesome), Tortuguero, Monteverde, Arenal, San Gerado, etc. You can see some wildlife but it is difficult on the main tourist track compared to lots of other places in Costa Rica with lots of people screaming, "I saw a bird." The Playa/beach just made top 20 on best beaches in the world on Tripadvisor, which in my humble opinion it is nowhere near. Its a very good beach, but I've been to many better that don't get a mention. It was overcrowded first week of Feb 2024, so if you are driving get there early to park.
