We did this tour with our two kids, 9 and 14. We all absolutely loved it.
Our guide was Philipe and he is a true expert. My wife is a biologist, and we were hoping for someone with solid knowledge who can answer more advanced questions. And he was fabulous. Someone who is not just a guide, but who does this out of passion. He was able to spot so many great animals who hadn’t been on our list yet (see below).
We loved how he was super engaging and included our kids in all explanations. Obviously, they had a fabulous time.
The company had separate guides for our family and for two other couples, such that we had our own pod, and if you want to be extra careful you may want to consider to avoid the tour shuttle and follow with your own rental car.
We absolutely recommend this great tour with true expert guides.

I booked the jungle night tour at Manual Antonio only the day prior. I was picked up at my hotel. The tour was very well organized. We were divided into smaller batches with a guide for each batch. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to identify many reptiles, amphibians and mammals based on their sound or habitat. This is a very unique experience. I had so much fun walking the jungles of Central America in the night

Had an amazing experience on the night tour with Christian. He’s so passionate about the environment and the insects and reptiles which he passes onto you. He takes amazing photos for you which he sends to you at the end and has great knowledge of the environment. He takes time to find as much as he can for the group so you have an amazing experience and see as much as possible. Would definitely do another tour with him.

Our experience of the jungle at night was spectacular. Bernie was our guide and he totally nailed it. They take pictures for you and send them to you. It rained the night we went and was perfect. An original experience for sure. I recommend at least once.

I can't add much to what has already been written here. It's all accurate. Safe, informative, and very cool to see the critters and animals you normally don't see during the day. The company worked with me as a solo traveler and helped facilitate pickup at a hotel pretty far outside of Quepos. Our guide pointed out so much I never would have noticed otherwise. Thanks for a great excursion.

It was a really great experience cooking typical costa rican food. The little Tour through the farm was great too. We searched for Lemon gras and mint for brewing a tea, afterwards we prepared the Lunch together. I highly recommend this Trip!

This was one of our favorite tours during our time in Costa Rica. Francisco was our guide (definitely request him!) - he was super knowledgeable and energetic. He went the extra mile to make sure we saw all sorts of creatures and took pictures with our cell phones. We initially weren’t super excited to see spiders, snakes etc but it was a great excursion.

We were excited about this tour. It turned out to be a huge disappointment. Our guide was monotone and boring.
If we had to pick a highlight, we did see a scorpion.
It was a long evening, with many bug bites.
We saw many different spiders, a snake, and a bird.
This was extremely expensive.
The tour did give us comic relief as we often talked about just how awful and boring it was.
Save your money.

Thanks for your kind review, we have been actively working with the same tour guides, Nancy, Felipe, Gregory, Rudy, Viviana & Brian and never had such a declaration the way you are stating it here. In fact all our team members are super enthusiastic and our most valuable investment.
There are of course sometimes moments when the guides are parhaps a bit exhausted since we also operate morning tours to Manuel Antonio Nation Park and other kind or nature walks but, by no means this changes our serious and profesional actitud.
This is Brian commenting this especific review, because the title got my attention, lma the main tour guide in this company and can garantee that the other guides are all competent and represent the company with the work they do at it's best.
On the other hand, iam concerned there are various other tour companies operating this tour in Manuel Antonio, perhaps you can give us names and we can talk about a real complaint here. Otherwise this shall not be consider as a real statement and as a consequence not affect our jobs.
Last but just as important, I am very sorry about your rather negative experience. Feel free to contact me personally, and l will be happy to work together with you for a better understanding of the jungle at night or any other nature tours in Manual Antoniob in a fun and interesting way.

Lots of fun and great way to learn more about the landscape and the creatures that inhabit it. Went because my spouse picked it, and even though it wouldn't have been the activity that caught my eye if I was without him, I really enjoyed it. Rudy did a great job and kept us entertained and informed even during the stretches between seeing things. Also really appreciated the guides dividing up the group thoughtfully and keeping a group of young kids together instead of giving each group a dose of young children. One note to the company - if possible would be to provide a water cooler at the end. It was a humid walk and we went through our water quickly so a sip of water before hopping back in the vans to our hotel would have been much appreciated. Not allowed to give halves - but 4.5 stars. Overall very fun and would definitely recommend!

One of the most memorable experiences of our Costa Rican trip. We saw so many beautiful and amazing night animals. It felt a little creepy walking around the jungle at night but in a super fun away and our guide was very careful. We saw snakes, frogs, lizards, butterflies, and enormous crocodiles (in captivity).

What age children do you think this tour would be appropriate for?

I'm not sure if the company has an age limit (I'd recommend emailing them or contacting them by WhatsApp) but I would say for kids over 7-8 years old. It's a bit over an hour, in the dark and in all weather conditions (especially considering Costa Rica has a long rainy season). As long as kids are old enough to enjoy that, not get bored and have fun looking for animals rain or dry, then that's great! I hope that helps.

Yes, I think it's good to take tennis, long pants (Columbia type or a jogging), a light shirt and a light raincoat, in case it rains. Flashlights are provided by the guide. He goes with his telescope and binoculars, so bring your phone or camera, he takes the pictures through the telescope. National Geographic Pictures!

Thanks for your interest, for this tour we have a beautiful nearby protected area about 15 minutes from the park entrance. We are actually connected to Manuel Antonio Park and the refuge is used exclusively for the night tours. Is all flat and accessible for all ages. We have a combination of natural habitats to maximize the opportunity to see animals. Please read more reviews and find out what other visitors think

I booked it directly with the company, but most hotels, airbnb's, etc. can also do it for you. They do limit the number on the tours, but I think it's easy to get into them. I think we had about 8 people on ours. Google night tour manuel antonio and it should lead you there (I tried to send you the link, but trip advisor doesn't allow it).

Our group was split into two groups of 7-8 people each. It was the perfect size! And we didn’t run into anyone else out there so was a unique experience!

Terra Travel Costa and no Brian isn't the only guide. We actually had a different guide for the night tour and Brian for the day tour to Manuel Antonio national park. They were both amazing guides.

Are you in a car when touring? Or walking? Is it safe?

We pick you up at your hotel, drive to the spot for about 20 minutes and we park near the forest. After that we hike (all flat) for about 2 hrs through the jungle. No driving. Is very safe.
