Make sure to do a birdwatching tour. Having someone slow you down and point out all the birds is well worth it. We took some amazing pictures at the suspension bridge with the clouds all around. Trails are well maintained.

This review is for my second visit to Monteverde. The first was eleven years ago - so no reviews from that visit. But that first trip left me always wanting to go back. We only spent two nights in Santa Elena on that trip and...More

Due to an accident I wasn’t able to hike but was able to hang in the little coffee shop and watch hummingbirds while my husband hiked the cloud forest.

Really interesting hikes, I spend there 5 hours walked basically all the trails, saw quite a lot of animals. There is a public bus from town that costs $1 and runs 3-4 times a day.

Not over welcoming as I arrived early but I'm sure it's great when you get in! Was tight on time so didn't get to go in but went elsewhere

Must walk this cloud forest. Best if you hire a guide as you will see and learn more. They have scopes etc.

We had the honour to be led by Richard, the son of one of the founders, Wilfred Guindon. Richard is very passionate in telling all about the forest and its inhabitants. We saw many animals thanks to him, I strongly recommend to take a guide...More

We took a self guided walk through the reserve. We did not see any animals other than birds in the reserve, but on our walk back to Santa Elena we encountered a troop of howler monkeys in a tree, as well as a tarantula in...More

He was next in the rotation of tour guides... basically luck of the draw. I cannot remember the amount, but I think it's on their website. It's a standard fee for any of the guides. The tour was about 3 hours, but it... More

You can be as aggressive as you want. I would hire a guide, you will see more. We used Tres Hermanos for all three days we were in the area, they are very good.
