Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After visiting the National Museum, I decided to walk down the Avenida 1. There are attractions along the way, one of which is this park. It has a tall statue of a Spanish Conquistidor plus those of some other famous persons.
The park is well-maintained and clean. I briefly rested here and enjoyed its ambience.

Parque Espana is a great little park in the centre of San Jose. It has a few really lovely statues and sculptures as well as open green spaces.

The series of parks in the city are really nice. They are all well maintained and litter free. They serve the general public as a place to meet and socialize and yet not become simply a homeless site. Many have historical significance with statues and monuments.

The huge tropical trees defy the never ending traffic that surrounds this park and provide a lovely oasis. We walked through on the way to the Jade Museum and were impressed with how well maintained it was. Interesting tribute to their colonial history.

This Park is very close to Parque Morazan and Jardin de Paz. With its mature foliage and flowers as well as decorative fountains and sculptures this park attracts culture lovers for artists displays on the weekends and kissers and huggers at night. Lovely to visit.

This small park is dominated by an empressive statue of Christopher Colombus - the man who started the plundering and killings in the Americas. Not worth the detour.

On the way from the city centre to the Parque Nacional, this park adjoins the Parque Morazan and is a walkway which offers some seats and shade. However, it is cloaked in graffiti and you are likely to be approached for cash.

This very small park is between Morazan park and Parque Nacional. It is close to the city center on Avenida 3. Its most important feature is a statue of a conquistador.
Reading the reviews some confusion has arisen about who it is. Some write it is Columbus while others state it is Coronado. The guide of the free walking tour was not sure either. There is no name written on the plinth.
Most likely it is Juan Vazques de Coronado the first royal governor of Costa Rica (1562 - 1565) He is considered a successful administrator with a reputation of fairness and fostering good relations with the native population. On Google maps de Coronado is mentioned as the man of the statue. Moreover the sculptured man does not look like Columbus.

Quite close to the jade museum, this small square does have a cool fountain and some interesting statuary, but otherwise isn't particularly noteworthy. It could be just a nice spot to sit and cool off on a hot day.
