I picked this trip, The Spencer Iceberg, Placer River Float because of the variety of activities in included. We got a short ride on the Alaska Railroad, got to see icebergs and be rowed around the lake right up next to them and then had a raft trip down the Placer River that had a few minor rapids and some... Professional staff with quality gear and friendly attitudes. A great way to explore this pristine glacial lake and river valley. I recommend this trip for families and friends of any skill level. It was exciting yet we always felt safe. Thanks Chugach Adventures!

We booked this adventure via the Alaska Railroad. It is out of Girdwood with Chugach Adventures. Wow! - what fun!! It was a cool, cloudy day but it didn't matter. Our guide, Erin, was experienced and proficient at navigating our 6-person raft. She met us at the unmanned Girdwood train stop just before boarding for the Spencer Whistle Stop. We... More

This was offered as an add-on to the land portion of our Regent cruise. My wife was hesitant as she usually doesn't enjoy any form of rafting, but our tour guide assured her this was a peaceful float down a beautiful glacial stream. The Churgach tour operators did a great job explaining the safety requirements, and calming people who were... More

The three guys who outfitted and guided were terrific. They were polite efficient friendly and knowledgeable. The food for our lunch was amazing. Salmon pasta salad tossed salad cheese bread and cheesecake. Fun time eating on the bank of the river. The raft trip was faster because there was lots of rain. So we stopped at the visitor center which... More

Was a gorgeous weather day...we lucked out! Rowing around the icebergs was cool. Would have liked to spend more time there and gone to some farther icebergs on the lake. Our guide, Emily, was very nice and fun. Although, she is not as strong a rower as the other guides, so I'm thinking that is why we didn't go to... More

We chose to add the train ride from Anchorage along Turnagain Arm to this raft trip. Fun choice and beautiful scenery on the way to Portage. After the train dropped us off, we were issued rubber boots and lunch; we boarded an old bus and were driven to the shore where we were outfitted with life vests and rain ponchos.... More

We were initially reluctant to do this due to cost, but decided to go ahead and book the tour. So glad we did! It was an awesome experience! Since we were staying in Girdwood, we drove to the Portage train station. The guides met us there and did a great job getting everyone fitted to rubber boots. Check in at... More

I actually booked a two week trip around this adventure. I thought - rafting among the icebergs - how cool. Let me tell you it was the PERFECT ending to a great trip! On June 1 we flew into Vancouver, spent 3 nights, then went on a 10 day sea/land cruise with Princess Cruise line. The evening we got to... More

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the trio was just great. We rowed out into Spencer lake and were up close to the icebergs and then had a float trip down the river to enjoy the scenery and here stories about the area. It was a great day.
